Renewal agreement: Effective March 1, 2023 to March 1, 2026. Signed on April 20, 2023.

Wage adjustments:

Effective March 1, 2023: 4%

Effective March 1, 2024: 3%

Effective March 1, 2025: 3%

Shift premium: $1.20 per hour on for all hours worked between 4 p.m. and 5 a.m.

Paid holidays: 11 days.

Vacations with pay: 2 weeks to start, 3 weeks after 5 years.

Overtime: Paid at time and one-half for hours worked after 8 in 1 day, 44 in 1 week, Sunday to Saturday.

Medical benefits: Employer will pay $1.75 for each hour (previously $1.65 per hour) worked by each employee into Operating Engineers Local 955 health and wellness trust fund. Effective March 1, 2024: $1.80 per hour. Effective March 1, 2025: $1.85 per hour.

Pension: Employer will pay 10% of each applicable base hourly rate of pay for all regular hours worked by each employee into Operating Engineers Local 955 pension trust fund.

Bereavement leave: 36 regularly scheduled hours for death in immediate family, provided employee is directly involved in making funeral arrangements or attending funeral (mother, father, brother, sister, spouse, common-law partner (regardless of gender), children, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, grandchildren, grandparents).

Call-in pay: Minimum 3 hours at applicable rate when employee is called to work on regularly assigned period of rest.

Probationary period: 400 hours.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 24 months for written warnings and suspensions.

Safety shoes: $200 per year all employees employed as working foreman, senior party chief, junior party chief, senior survey assistant, junior survey assistant (employee must be employed minimum 6 months).

Mileage: $0.51 per kilometre if employee uses own vehicle at request of employer.

Sample rates of hourly pay (current, after 6% increase):

Group 1: $44.84 rising 2 steps to $47.58

Group 2: $41.26 rising 2 steps to $43.78

Group 3: $39.26 rising 2 steps to $41.65

Group 4: $34.06 rising 2 steps to $36.13

Group 5: $27.73 rising 2 steps to $29.42

Editor’s notes: Training: Employer will pay $0.07 for each hour worked by each employee into Operating Engineers Local 955 training trust fund. International training fund: Employer will contribute $0.05 for each hour worked by each employee to International Union of Operating Engineers National Training Fund.
