Renewal agreement: Effective April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2025. Signed on March 16, 2023.

Wage adjustments:

Effective April 1, 2022: 2%

Effective April 1, 2023: 2.5%

Effective April 1, 2024: 3%

Shift premium: Double time for employee who works in emergency under extreme weather conditions.

Paid holidays: 14 days, including Hamlet Day, Nunavut Day, National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (Sept. 30), plus Christmas Eve (half day); New Year’s Eve (half day).

Vacations with pay: 1 1/2 days per month to start, 1 2/3 days per month after 2 years, 2 1/12 days per month after 10 years, 2 1/2 days per month after 15 years. Employees are not permitted to carry over more vacation leave credits than can be earned in 1 fiscal year. Vacation leave credits exceeding 1-year entitlement will be liquidated in March.

Overtime: Time and one-half, double time after 4 hours of overtime or work on Sunday or day subsequent day of rest.

Medical benefits: Northern Employee Benefits Services (NEBS) group benefit plan.

Sick leave: 1 1/4 days per month.

Pension: Northern Employee Benefits Services (NEBS) pension plan.

Bereavement leave: 6 days for death in immediate family (father, mother, brother, sister, spouse, common-law spouse, child, stepchild, adopted child, grandparent, grandchild, father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, daughter-in- law, sister-in-law, son-in-law, any relative residing in employee’s household). 1 day for death of aunt, uncle, niece, nephew.

Call-in pay: Greater of compensation at appropriate overtime rate or compensation equivalent to 4 hours’ pay at straight-time rate.

Probationary period: Probation is 9 months (except for foreman and recreation leader which will have be 12 months) and periods may be extended by 30 days.

Safety shoes: $200 for summer CSA-approved work boots. $300 for winter CSA-approved work boots.

Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide and replace summer leather gloves and winter insulated gloves. Employer will reimburse employees, up to indicated maximum, for following items: $100 for summer coveralls; $450 for winter coveralls.

Tool allowance: $0.25 per hour ($10 per week) for mechanic, assistant mechanic, hamlet maintenance man.

Editor’s notes: Special leave: 1 half-day for each month in which employee received pay for at least 10 days as special leave credits, maximum 22 days. Medical travel leave: 6 days per year for employee who is going to medical centre or escorting dependant, spouse, immediate family member or other community member. Traditional harvesting leave: 3 days with pay, 1 day without pay per fiscal year to employee.
