Renewal agreement: Effective July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2022. Signed on Aug. 14, 2019.

Shift premium: $0.55 for all worked hours on shift, except for shift starting between 6 a.m. and noon.

Paid holidays: 8 days plus 3 Christmas period days, day before New Year’s Day. Employees will receive 4 floating holidays (this including sick or personal days that government could grant), which must be taken in each contract year (benefit will end on June 30, 2022).

Vacations with pay: 2 weeks or 4% after 1 year, 3 weeks or 6% after 5 years, 4 weeks or 8% after 10 years, 5 weeks or 10% after 15 years, 6 weeks or 12% after 20 years, 7 weeks or 14% after 25 years.

Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week; double time after 11 hours of work. Time and one-half for all work on Saturday; double time after 8 hours of work.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Pension: Teamsters Canadian Pension Plan Local 106 miscellaneous industries division. Employer contributes $578 per month, employee contributes $140 per month.

Bereavement leave: 3 days for death in immediate family (father, mother, spouse, common law spouse, brother, sister, adoptive parents, adoptive son, adoptive daughter, son, daughter, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, mother-in-law, father-in-law , sister-in-law, brother-in-law, grandparents, grandchildren (related grandparents, legal guardian)). If more time is required for any reason concerning death, leave of absence without pay will be given by employer.

Seniority – recall rights: 180 calendar days for employees who are promoted to supervisory positions or to positions not subject to agreement; 24 months for layoffs.

Probationary period: 60 working days in any consecutive 6-month period.

Severance: Employer will pay highest of 2 days’ salary, at regular wage rate and for regular worked hours for each year of employment or 5 days’ salary, at regular wage rate and for regular worked hours.

Safety shoes: Caretakers will be reimbursed 100%, upon presentation of receipt for safety footwear.

Uniforms/clothing: Shop coats will be provided for dispatchers when required.

Sample rates of hourly pay (current):

Dispatcher: $26.58

Clerk: $25.17

Sample rates of hourly pay (current, after 1.5% increase):

Claim clerk: $25.17 rising 2 steps to $25.55

(All new employees will be paid $0.25 less per hour that above-mentioned rate, for first 60 days of employment. Employees that change classification will be paid $0.15 less per hour for first 60 days in new classification)

Editor’s notes: Medical examination: All employees will promptly undergo any medical examination required by employer who will pay costs of examinations. If examinations is required after working hours, employee will receive $15 and receive notice of at least 3 working days before appointment.
