Renewal agreement: Effective Oct. 1, 2021 to Sept. 30, 2024. Signed on May 19, 2022.

Paid holidays: 13 days, including National Indigenous People’s Day.

Vacations with pay: 15 days per year to start, 20 days after 2 years, 25 days per year after 10 years, 30 days per year after 16 years. Employees may not carry over more vacation leave credits than can be earned in 1 year (credits exceeding 1-year entitlement will be paid out in March).

Overtime: Paid at time and one-half. Double time for work on second day of rest.

Meal allowance: $20 when employee is required to work 3 or more hours of overtime immediately following regularly scheduled hours of work, and due to of operational requirements, employee must remain at place of work.

Medical benefits: Northern Employee Benefits Services (NEBS) Group Benefit Plan.

Sick leave: 1 quarter-day for each month in which employee received pay for at least 10 days

Pension: Northern Employee Benefits Services (NEBS) Pension Plan.

Bereavement leave: 5 days for death in immediate family (father, mother, brother, sister, spouse, common-law spouse, child, grandparent, grandchild, father-in-law, mother-in-law, any relative residing in employee’s household).

Call-in pay: Greater of compensation at appropriate overtime rate or compensation equivalent to 4 hours’ pay at straight-time rate.

Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide each maintenance employee, including apprentices, with 2 pairs of summer coveralls and 1 pair of winter coveralls. Employer will provide each maintenance employee, including apprentices, with summer leather or rubber work gloves, and insulated leather or rubber work gloves for cold weather. Employer will make available to each maintenance employee, including apprentices, hard hats and liners.

Tool allowance: $275 for work boots, paid biannually in each odd-numbered year.

Editor’s notes: Winter bonus days: Employee will receive 1 paid winter bonus day for every 5 consecutive non-overlapping days of annual leave which between Oct. 1 and March 31 of any year, maximum 4 winter days in any 1 year. Special leave: Employee will earn credits, maximum 25 days: 1 half-day for each month in which employee received pay for at least 10 days or 1 quarter-day for each month in which employee received pay for less than 10 days. Standby pay: $30 for weekday; $42 for Saturday, Sunday, designated paid holiday. $75 per week, providing employee pays full cost of electricity, for employees on standby and who bring employer vehicle home between Nov. 1 and March 31. Bilingual bonus: $1,300 per year when employee is required to speak both English and Inuktitut.
