Renewal agreement: Effective Sept. 1, 2019 to Aug. 31, 2022. Ratified in November 2019. Signed on May 27, 2020.

Wage adjustments:

Effective Sept. 1, 2019: 1%

Effective Sept. 1, 2020: 1%

Effective Sept. 1, 2021: 1%

Paid holidays: 12 days including 1 float day. Maximum 5 days per year for observance of religious holidays.

Vacations with pay: 1 day per month up to 10 days to start, 10 days after 1 year, 15 days after 3 years, 16 days after 6 years, 17 days after 7 years, 20 days after 8 years, 21 days after 11 years, 22 days after 13 years, 23 days after 15 years, 24 days after 17 years, 25 days after 18 years, 26 days after 21 years, 27 days after 22 years, 28 days after 23 years, 29 days after 24 years, 30 days after 25 years. 35 days after 30 years, for that year only. Maximum 5 vacation days may be carried over to following year (must be taken within following vacation year) for employees working on 12-month basis, and who are entitled to 16 days of vacation or more

Overtime: Time and one-half for hours in excess of regular hours per day or week and all hours on Saturday when not normally scheduled to work on Saturday. Double time for all hours worked on Sunday when not normally scheduled to work on Sunday, and all hours on statutory holidays. Employee may earn lieu time, maximum of employee’s weekly FTE but balances must be depleted by Aug. 31 of each year or remaining balances will be paid out.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for CUPE Education Workers Benefit Trust.

Sick leave: 11 days per year.

STD: 120 days at 90% pay per year.

LTD: Employee pays 100% of premiums for Great West Life Insurance Long Term Disability Plan.

Pension: Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System.

Bereavement leave: 5 working days for death of spouse, parent, child, stepchild, sibling, ward, parent-in-law, step-parent. 3 working days for death of sibling-in-law, child-in-law, step-sibling, grandparent, grandchild, guardian. 1 working day for death of aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, spouse’s grandparents, close friend.

Seniority – recall rights: 26 months.

Call-in pay: Minimum 3 hours of pay.

Severance: 20 working days’ notice for employees with less than 5 years of service, 30 working days’ notice for 5 years of service, 40 working days’ notice for 10 years of service.

Safety shoes: $100 for cost of safety footwear that exceeds $100 in cost. Replacements provided on as-needed basis.

Uniforms/clothing: Facilities and courier services employees receive 4 uniforms to start and 3 per year thereafter.

Duplicating operator/receptionist: $18.71/$20.76 rising 1 step to $18.90/$20.97

TR resource room assistant: $19.35/$21.48 rising 1 step to $19.54/$21.69

Custodian/instructional supervising monitor/student monitor: $19.99/$22.19 rising 1 step to $20.19/$22.41

Administrative support assistant/LINC childminder/courier/maintenance 2/TR leger settlement outreach worker/purchasing assistant/LINC lead childminder/learning commons informationist: $20.64/$21.19 rising 1 step to $20.85/$23.13

Editor’s notes: Personal leave: 2 days per school year for serious personal reasons. Up to 1 day with pay per calendar year to write an examination relevant to their employment. Notice of layoff: When it is necessary to layoff employees, employer will provide notice in writing or pay in lieu: 20 working days if employee has less than 5 years of service; 30 working days if employee has 5 years of service; 40 working days if employee has 10 years of service or more. Travel time: When employer requires employee to travel between work sites, as part of regular assignment, time spent traveling will be considered part of total workday. Professional development: Employer will provide maximum 2 professional-development days per year for professional development activities for all employees. Employer may elect to offer additional days. Time spent at professional-development activities will be considered time at work. Reimbursement of expenses: Employer will reimburse employee for all reasonable expenses connected with conferences, conventions, workshops, professional development, courses attended by employee at request of employer. Summer hours: Employees in 12-month office, clerical and technical employee groups will have option to participate in 4-day summer work week. Employees will have opportunity to accumulate maximum 49 hours from September to June each school year by working additional time on regularly scheduled basis.
