Renewal agreement: Effective Sept. 29, 2017 to Sept. 28, 2021. Ratified in May 2019. Signed on May 24, 2019.

Wage adjustments:

Effective Sept. 29, 2017: 1.4%

Effective Sept. 29, 2018: 1.4%

Effective Sept. 29, 2019: 1.6%

Effective Sept. 29, 2020: 1.65%

Shift premium: $1.20 per hour for all hours worked in shift where majority of scheduled hours fall between 3 p.m. and 7 a.m. and between midnight Friday and midnight Sunday. $4 for each shift when employer temporarily assigns employee to carry out responsibilities of classification outside bargaining unit.

Paid holidays: 12 days.

Vacations with pay: 2 weeks to start, 3 weeks after 2 years, 4 weeks after 5 years, 5 weeks after 12 years, 6 weeks after 20 years, 7 weeks after 28 years.

Overtime: Time and one-half for hours worked in excess of 7.5 hours in shift or 75 hours in 2-week pay period. Double time for additional overtime contiguous to overtime shift within 24-hour period. May be taken as time off in lieu but employer will revert to payment if time off is not taken within 90 calendar days of workweek in which overtime was earned.

Meal allowance: Meal valued at $10 or $10 if employer is unable to provide meal for employee who works second consecutive full shift or for employees who work more than 2 hours of overtime on same day they have worked 1 full shift.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 75% of premiums, employee pays 25% of premiums for Blue Cross Extended Health Care Benefits Plan. Benefits extended to active full-time employees from age of 65 to 70 on same-cost share basis as those under 65.

Dental: Employer pays 75% of premiums, employee pays 25% of premiums for Blue Cross #9 Dental Plan.

Vision: $300 every 24 months in addition to eye examinations biennially.

Paramedical: $375 per year (previously $350 per year) for chiropractor, licensed or registered physiotherapist.

STD: Employer pays 75% of premiums, employee pays 25% of premiums for Hospitals of Ontario Disability Income Plan.

LTD: Employer pays 75% of premiums, employee pays 25% of premiums for Hospitals of Ontario Disability Income Plan.

Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for Hospitals of Ontario Group Life Insurance Plan.

Pension: Toronto General Hospital pension plan.

Bereavement leave: 4 consecutive paid working days for death of spouse (including same-sex partner), child, parent, sibling, parent-in-law, sibling-in-law, child-in-law, grandparent, grandchild, grandparent of spouse. 1 paid day to attend funeral or memorial service of aunt, uncle, niece or nephew.

Seniority – recall rights: 6 months for temporary assignments; 48 months for layoffs. 12 months for employee who takes educational leave without pay.

Call-in pay: Minimum of 4 hours’ work or pay at time and one-half if called back to work after completing regular shift.

Probationary period: 60 days of work (450 hours for employees whose regular hours are other than standard workday) within any 12 months.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 18 months for letter of reprimand, suspension or any other sanction provided that employee’s record has been discipline free for 1 year.

Severance: Separation allowance of 2 weeks’ salary for each year of continuous service maximum 20 weeks’ pay for employees who resign within 30 days after receiving notice of layoff and elimination of position. 4 weeks’ salary for employees who resign more than 30 days after receiving layoff notice.

Safety shoes: $120 per year to each employee who is required to wear safety footwear.

Uniforms/clothing: Uniforms provided and replaced as required by hospital. Old, torn uniforms are to be returned in order to receive replacement. $25 per year (paid out on first paycheque of each year) when uniforms are not currently provided (psych assistant, patient-care assistants).

Tool allowance: $115 per year to specified trade; $60 per year to non-trade positions requiring tools.

Mileage: $0.32 per kilometre, maximum of $30 for each journey, or taxi fare when employee is called in and must travel to hospital or return home between midnight and 6 a.m., or at any time when on standby.

Editor’s notes: Reporting pay: Employees who report for any scheduled shift are guaranteed at least 4 hours of work or pay. Vaccinations: If influenza vaccinations are recommended for facility or designated areas and employee refused to take it, employee will be reassigned during outbreak period or placed on unpaid leave/vacation if reassignment isn’t possible. Retirement allowance: Employee who elects early retirement option (after layoff announcement) will receive 2 weeks’ salary for each year of service (plus prorated amount for any additional partial year of service) maximum 52 weeks’ salary. Separation allowances: Employee will be reimbursed for tuition fees, maximum $3,500, when employee resigns within 30 days after receiving notice of layoff; $1,250 when employee resigns later than 30 days after receiving notice. Standby pay: $3.30 per hour for all hours on standby duty when not called into work ($4.90 per hour for holiday hours). Union social fund: Employer will contribute $7.50, on first December deduction date in each year, from employees for whom dues deduction is being made, to be used for union social fund.
