11 construction workers killed in Ontario so far this year

More than one-half of fatalities caused by falls

In the first half of 2010, 11 construction workers have been killed on the job in Ontario, according to the Infrastructure Health and Safety Association (IHSA).

Six of the 11 fatalities were caused by falls. Two of the falls were through floor openings and one was from a ladder.

The support cable of a boom truck contacted an overhead electrical conductor. The worker was standing on the ground holding the support cable when the contact occurred.
