Renewal agreement: Effective July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2022. Ratified in August 2019. Signed on July 1, 2019.

Wage adjustments:

Effective July 1, 2019: 1.7%

Effective July 1, 2020: 3%

Effective July 1, 2021: 3.2%

Shift premium: $0.50 per hour for overnight shift (between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m.). $0.50 per hour for special projects and lead-hand responsibilities. $0.25 per hour on all hours worked where employer schedules 1-hour unpaid lunch break.

Paid holidays: 13 days including 4 floating personal days (after 1 year of service).

Vacations with pay: 2 weeks after 1 year, 3 weeks after 5 years, 4 weeks after 15 years, 5 weeks after 20 years.

Overtime: Time and one-half for all hours paid in excess of 44 in workweek; all hours worked on paid holiday.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums ($0.85 per hour (previously $0.80 per hour)) into SEIU Local 1 & 2 Benefit Trust.

Pension: Employer, employees each contribute amount equal to 1% of employee’s wages to multi-sector pension plan.

Bereavement leave: 3 paid days for death of spouse, child stepchild, parent, sibling, grandparent, grandchild. 2 paid days for death of parent-in-law. 1 paid day for death of aunt, uncle, child-in-law, sibling-in-law, grandparent-in-law.

Seniority – recall rights: 12 months for layoffs; 24 months for extended absence due to injury or illness.

Probationary period: 480 hours or 60 shifts, whichever happens first.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 24 months for discipline and if discipline did not involve misconduct did not involve violation of law or issue constituting breach of trust.

Safety shoes: $100 every 2 years where certified safety shoes must be worn.

Uniforms/clothing: Employer provides uniforms free of charge. Employer provides 1 winter coat with company identification; gloves to employees required to work outside during winter months.

Sample rates of hourly pay (current, after 3.2% increase):

Cleaner/day porter, matron: $15.70 rising 1 step to $16.20

Editor’s notes: Pay floor: At no time will any person covered by this agreement earn wage rate less than $0.50 per hour above minimum wage.
