Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 1, 2021 to Aug. 31, 2023. Signed on Jan. 1, 2021.
Shift premium: 5% (of current rate) for lead-hand. 15% (of current rate) for foreman. 22% (of current rate) for relief coordinator. $3 per hour (majority of shift hours between 5 p.m. and 8 a.m.) for night shift. $2 per hour for stainless premium. $3 per hour for chrome premium. $4 per hour for titanium premium (for all hours worked using specialty alloys). $2 per hour for dual ticket (2 Alberta or Red Seal journeyman tickets and hired with intent to use both tickets or performs both tasks). $0.20 per hour per 10 tonnes over 66 tonnes for crane premium. $1 per hour for steward. $1 per hour for steward w/ tool box 1. $1 per hour for steward w/ tool box 2. $1.25 per hour for steward w/ tool box 3. $2 per hour for chief steward w/ tool box 1. $2 per hour for chief steward w/ tool box 2. $2.50 per hour for chief steward w/ tool box 3
Paid holidays: 11 days.
Vacations with pay: Employees will receive 6% of base wage rate for all hours worked as vacation pay; additional 2% after 5 years of service; additional 2% after 10 years of service; additional 2% after 15 years of service.
Overtime: Time and one-half for work in excess of 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week (where no pre-job conference report or hours-of-work averaging agreement in effect). Employees will receive 15-minute paid rest break at start (or at earliest convenience when performing critical tasks) for any overtime worked for more than 1 hour. Time and one-half for work on scheduled days off.
Meal allowance: Employer will provide paid meal period of one-half hour and meal provided for employees if employees work beyond 12 hours in 1 day.
Medical benefits: Employer will contribute $1.95 per hour to CLAC Health and Welfare Trust Fund.
Dental: Coverage of 100% reimbursement up to $2,000 per person annual for basic services; 50% reimbursement, up to $2,000 per person annual for major services; 50% reimbursement, up to $3,000 lifetime maximum per child younger than 19 for orthodontic.
Vision: Coverage of $300 per year for dependants younger than 21; $300 every two years for those 21 and older.
Paramedical: Coverage of $50 per visit, doctor’s referral required, for massage therapy.
STD: Coverage of 60% of weekly basic earnings, maximum $600 per week. Weekly benefits, payable after first day of accident or hospitalization and fourteenth day of illness, maximum 119 days (1/14/119).
LTD: Coverage of 60% of weekly basic earnings, maximum $2,600 per month. Weekly benefits, payable after 119 days until 65 years old (119/65).
AD&D: Coverage of $100,000.
Life insurance: Coverage of $100,000.
Pension: Employer will contribute 6% to CLAC Pension Plan. Employer will contribute up to additional 2% when employee elects to voluntarily contribute up to 2% of base wage rate to pension plan (minimum 2% contribution). Employee may make further voluntary contributions.
Bereavement leave: 3 days, maximum 12 straight-time hours per day, for death in family (spouse, common-law spouse, child, legal dependant, father, mother, stepfather, stepmother, father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, sister, sister-in-law, grandparents, grandchildren).
Seniority – recall rights: 6 months after layoff.
Call-in pay: Minimum 2 hours’ pay at appropriate rate.
Probationary period: 90 calendar days (period may be extended by additional 30 calendar days).
Safety shoes: Employees will wear CSA-approved safety boots supplied by employee. Employees will receive $0.15 per hour for all regularly scheduled hours to be paid out on each pay cheque as boot allowance.
Uniforms/clothing: Employees will wear CSA-approved safety hats to be made available by employer. Employer will furnish employees with all safety equipment excluding prescription safety eyewear; any worn out safety equipment will be replaced upon presentation of worn equipment.

Editor’s notes: Meetings: Employees attending union-employer meetings during regular working hours will be entitled to wages. If meetings are held outside participating employee’s regular working hours, employer will pay employees 1 hour of wages for time spent attending meetings. Training allowances: Employer will pay employees for training and recertification that is required as part of employment and is conducted off-site and outside of normal shift: $100 per day (previously $90 per day) for classes less than 4 hours; $200 per day (previously $180 per day) for classes greater than 4 hours. Additionally employer will pay full cost of training and recertification. Prescription safety eyewear: Employer will reimburse employee cost of prescription safety eyewear, maximum $250 (employee must have worked 600 hours for first reimbursement). Training trust fund: Employer will contribute $0.05 per hour to training trust fund. Education fund: Employer will contribute $0.08 per hour to education fund. Industry fund: Employer will contribute $0.03 per hour to industry fund.
