Renewal agreement: Effective April 1, 2019 to March 31, 2022. Ratified in September 2019. Signed on Nov. 21, 2019.

Wage adjustments:

Effective April 1, 2019: 1.5%

Effective April 1, 2020: 1.5%

Effective April 1, 2021: 1.5%

Shift premium: $0.33 per hour for all hours worked on shift where majority of hours fall outside normal daily hours of 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and where employee is required to rotate over 2 or more shifts. $0.30 per hour for all hours worked between 11 p.m. Friday and 11 p.m. Sunday, except where employee receives overtime premium. $1 per hour for employees assigned responsibility of supervisor or is training newly hired person.

Paid holidays: 12 days including to floating days.

Vacations with pay: 2 weeks after 1 year, 3 weeks after 3 years, 4 weeks after 8 years, 5 weeks after 15 years, 6 weeks after 22 years.

Overtime: Time and one-half for all time in excess of 7.5 consecutive hours in 1 day or 75 hours in biweekly period. Time and one-half for all hours worked on statutory holiday.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for extended health care plan.

Dental: Employer and employees each pay 50% of premiums for basic dental plan. $1,500 per year maximum coverage per year.

Vision: $300 every 2 years

Weekly indemnity: 70% of wages for weeks 2 through 16 of any illness or injury for employees not eligible for EI.

Sick leave: 7.5 hours (1 credit) for each period of 162.5 hours paid, maximum of 112.5 hours (15 credits).

STD: Employer tops up of EI benefits to 70% of wages for weeks 2 through 16 of any illness or injury and 100% of wages for weeks 17 through 27.

AD&D: Employer pays 100% of premiums for up to $50,000.

Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for $50,000 for employee, $5,000 for spouse, $2,500 for each dependant.

Pension: Employer matches employee contributions to group RRSP, maximum 4% of applicable wages.

Bereavement leave: 4 paid days for death of spouse, child, stepchild, parent, stepparent. 3 paid days for death of sibling, parent-in-law, sibling-in-law, legal guardian, grandparent, grandparent-in-law, grandchild, child-in-law. 1 paid day for death of niece, nephew, aunt, uncle. 1 day can be saved in event of delayed interment.

Seniority – recall rights: 12 months for layoffs; 6 months or academic year for employee who is transferred out of bargaining unit.

Call-in pay: Minimum 3 hours at time and one-half if called in to work after completing full shift and leaving home premises.

Probationary period: 450 hours or 9 months, whichever occurs sooner. May be extended up to additional 60 working days.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 18 months for disciplinary letter of reprimand, suspension or other disciplinary sanction.

Severance: In accordance with Employment Standards Act.

Uniforms/clothing: Uniform allowance of $0.07 per hour for all hours worked during previous 365 days to be paid on each employee’s anniversary date.

Editor’s notes: Education leave: Employer will pay full costs associated with courses required to be taken by employer to upgrade or acquire new qualifications. Hearing aid: $500 every 60 months.
