Renewal agreement: Effective Feb. 5, 2023 to Feb. 4, 2026. Signed on April 21, 2023.
Wage adjustments:
Effective Feb. 5, 2023: 5%
Effective Feb. 5, 2024: 2%
Effective Feb. 5, 2025: 2%
Paid holidays: 12 days, including National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
Vacations with pay: 10 days or 4% to start, 15 days or 6% after 13 months, 15 days or 8% after 61 months, 20 days or 10% after 121 months, 25 days or 10% after 181 months.
Overtime: Time and one-half for work on Saturday. Time and one-half for work beyond 40 hours of work per week on 8-, 10-hour schedules or 36 hours per week on 12-hour schedules. Double time after 12 hours of work per day.
Meal allowance: 1 hot meal of $25 (previously $20) when employee works unscheduled overtime of more than 2 hours beyond quitting time immediately after end of 2-hour time period and every 4 hours thereafter, with 20 minutes paid at double time to consume meal.
Medical benefits: Employer will contribute $385 per month to Boilermakers’ National Benefits Plan (Canada).
Dental: Coverage of 100% for basic and major expenses; 60% for orthodontics. Maximum $2,500 per person per year for basic and major expenses. $2,000 lifetime maximum for orthodontics.
LTD: $2,400 per month after 26 weeks.
AD&D: Coverage of $75,000.
Life insurance: Coverage of $75,000.
Pension: Boilermakers’ National Pension Plan (Canada).
Bereavement leave: 3 days for death in immediate family (mother, father, sister, brother, stepmother, stepfather, daughter, son, grandchildren, wife (including common-law), husband (including common-law), adult interdependent partner, mother-in-law, father-in-law, grandparents. 3 days, without pay, for death of current or former foster-children, current or former wards, current or former guardians, current or former foster-parents, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews.
Seniority – recall rights: 60 days of continuous field work should employee solicit work in field on new construction or maintenance. 1 month for each year of employment after layoff. 1 year for absence because of sickness covered by medical certificate or accident recognized by workers’ compensation board.
Call-in pay: Minimum 2 hours of pay at double time.
Probationary period: 90 calendar days.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 3 years for disciplinary actions.
Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide coveralls on exchange basis or exchange service for coveralls weekly basis within 30 calendar days of start of employment, or cash payment of $100 on June 1, Oct. 1, Feb. 1. Gloves be supplied by employer as required. Employer will provide acceptable hearing protection, safety glasses, hard hats, respiratory protection. Winter coats will be provided to employees who work outside.
