Renewal agreement: Effective May 1, 2021 to April 30, 2024. Signed on May 1, 2021.

Wage adjustments:

Effective May 1, 2021: 3% or COLA, whichever is higher

Effective May 1, 2022: 3% or COLA, whichever is higher

Effective May 1, 2023: 3% or COLA, whichever is higher

Shift premium: Time and one-half for work after 188 days of duty; double time for work after 196 days of duty.

Vacations with pay: 6% vacation pay.

Medical benefits: Employer will pay $320.31 per month (previously $369.10 per month) for family security plan.

LTD: Employer will pay $186.10 per month.

Pension: Employer will contribute 8.75%, employee will contribute 5% to group pension plan. Participation in group pension plan will be mandatory.

Bereavement leave: 7 days for death in immediate family (spouse, son, daughter, mother, father). 4 days for death of brother, sister, parent-in-law, grandparent, grandchild, brother-in-law, sister-in-law.

Seniority – recall rights: 24 months for officer who is promoted or transferred to position within company but outside bargaining unit. 2 years for employee who on is on layoff for continuous period or for employee who is unable to perform normal duties due to illness or accident (may be extended by mutual agreement of parties).

Probationary period: 90 sea days, excluding lay-up.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 24 months for records of disciplinary action.

Severance: 4 days’ pay for each year of service, maximum 60 days’ basic pay without leave pay, after 6 years’ service.

Uniforms/clothing: Upon commencement of employment, all officers will receive: 3 pairs of ordinary coveralls per year; 1 pair of insulated coveralls or winter jacket and pants per year (replaced as required); floater suits and raingear as required and while working on deck in inclement weather; 1 hard hat; 1 balaclava (replaced as required); 1 pair of work gloves per year (replaced as required); PPE that may be required by employer. Employer will provide $500 per year for footwear, personal PPE, uniform, thermal underwear.

Mileage: $0.555 per kilometre for all private car use.

Chief mate/second engineer: $151,553.47

Second mate/third engineer: $124,043.06

Third mate/fourth engineer: $106,658.62

Chief officer/second engineer: $40.29

Second officer/third engineer: $39.03

Third officer/fourth engineer: $37.76

Editor’s notes: Travel expenses/crew-change days: Employer will pay travel expenses to and from officer’s residence to place of joining and departing vessel (private cars may be used if it is more economic means of transportation). Meals, when not provided onboard vessel by cook, will be compensated at $60 per day (previously $40 per day), in cash, on weekly basis. Seniority bonus system: $1,000 for each year of service, maximum 12 years, at which point bonus will be paid at maximum rate for each year of service after 12 years. Marine disaster: $6,000 for officers who suffer loss of personal effects through wreck or marine disaster. Hiring service: Employer will pay CMSG $3 per job per payroll day, maximum $540 per month, to ensure adequate arrangements for supply of officers to employer. Satellite box/HD TV: Employer will equip each officer’s cabin with 1 satellite box and will provide $200 per officer to equip cabin with HD TV.
