Renewal agreement: Effective May 1, 2019 to Oct. 31, 2022. Ratified in April 2019. Signed on June 21, 2019.
Wage adjustments:
Effective Aug. 1, 2019: 3.3%
Effective Nov. 1, 2020: 2.3%
Effective Nov. 1, 2021: 2.5%
Shift premium: $0.65 per hour for afternoon shift. $0.80 per hour for midnight shift. $1 per hour for lead-hands.
Paid holidays: 10 days, plus 2 float days between Christmas and New Year’s.
Vacations with pay: 2 weeks to start, 3 weeks after 5 years, 4 weeks after 10 years.
Overtime: Time and one-half for hours worked greater than 40 in 1 week (37.5 on midnight shift) and all hours on Saturday; double time for hours worked on Sunday and statutory holidays. Straight-time rate for working on float day between Christmas and New Year’s, in addition to pay for float day.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums. 80% for basic services. Maximum $2,500 per covered person per year.
Vision: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Eye examinations, including refractions, where allowed by provincial legislation once every 24 months (12 months for dependent children). $230 every 24 months for eyeglass frames, lenses, contact lenses and dispensing fees.
Paramedical: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Coverage of $500 per year for chiropractor, naturopath, osteopath, podiatrist/chiropodist, psychologist, speech therapist, massage therapist (physician referral required), physiotherapist, acupuncturist, social worker.
AD&D: Employer pays 100% of premiums. 1 times annual earnings, maximum benefit $100,000.
Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums. 1 times annual earnings, maximum benefit $100,000.
Pension: Employer matches employee contributions.
Bereavement leave: 4 consecutive working days (previously 3 days) for death of spouse, partner, child, stepchild, parent, sibling, grandparent, parent-in-law, grandchild. 1 day with pay to attend funeral of sibling-in-law, child-in-law, niece, nephew, aunt, uncle. 1 day compassionate leave if unable to attend funeral of immediately family member.
Seniority – recall rights: Lesser of 36 months or length of seniority (minimum 1 year) for layoffs; 2 years or length of seniority (minimum 1 year) if employee is absent due to illness or injury.
Call-in pay: Minimum of 3 hours’ pay or hours worked at time and one-half when called in for emergency duties after leaving work.
Probationary period: 60 days worked. 120 days worked for plastic material handler.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months; 24 months for disciplines concerning harassment.
Safety shoes: $200 per employee on date of ratification; $210 for die-cast employees. Employees are eligible for replacement shoes 1 calendar year following original purchase.
Uniforms/clothing: Pants and shirts provided to material handlers, salvage, junior and senior process tech classification. Employer will provide shop coats, coveralls, shirts, pants for skilled trades employees.
Tool allowance: $300 reimbursement per year for tool room, maintenance skilled trades employees.
