Renewal agreement: Effective May 26, 2019 to April 30, 2022. Signed on May 10, 2019.

Shift premium: Forepersons: Hourly rate for journeyperson millwrights, plus additional $6.25 per hour. Sub-forepersons: Hourly rate for journeyperson millwrights, plus $3.15 per hour. 15% for employees employed on afternoon and night shifts.

Paid holidays: 9 days.

Vacations with pay: 2 weeks to start. Employees will receive 10% on each paycheque as holiday, vacation pay.

Overtime: Double time for all work before or after employee’s regular shift, maximum 7 hours of overtime. Double time for all time worked by employee between 12:01 a.m. Saturday and 12:01 a.m. Monday. Double time for hours worked on third change and any subsequent ones, for workweek if employee changes shifts more than 2 times in standard workweek.

Meal allowance: Hot meal at employer’s expense when employee works more than 10 hours in 1 shift (unless employee has been notified of overtime during or prior to previous shift). When employee is called in to work over and above regular shift, employee will be supplied hot meal for every 4 hours at employer’s expense. Employee will be paid $20 and given 20-minute break with pay in jurisdictional areas covered by Local 1151, Thunder Bay and Local 1425, Sudbury, in lieu of hot-meal provision.

Medical benefits: Employer will contribute $4.20 per hour ($8.40 per hour for all overtime hours) to Millwright Regional Council of Ontario Benefit Trust Fund for millwright welfare plan and the legal assistance plan.

Pension: Employer will contribute $7.87 per hour ($15.74 per hour for all overtime hours) into Millwright Regional Council of Ontario Pension Trust Fund. Effective May 1, 2020: $8.05 per hour ($16.10 per hour for all overtime hours). Effective April 30, 2021: $8.20 per hour ($16.40 per hour for all overtime hours).

Uniforms/clothing: Employer will supply raincoats, safety rubber boots, welders’ standard mitts and leathers, welding shields, gloves, other special apparel as required. Employer will supply leather-palm gloves, fabric coveralls on jobs of dirty nature or on jobs where acid or other chemicals may damage clothing. Welding hoods broken, damaged on job will be replaced by employer.

Tool allowance: Employer will maintain insurance, maximum $1,750 per employee, to cover employee’s tools, clothing while on job site, against loss or damage by fire or theft by forcible entry. Employer will replace affected tools on any job or project where corrosive elements exist such as those which are considered part of manufacturing process and corrosive conditions affect employee’s working tools.

Millwrights: $42.02 rising 2 steps to $44.02

Forepersons: $48.27 rising 2 steps to $50.27

Sub-forepersons: $45.17 rising 2 steps to $47.17

Apprentices

From 0 to 1,999 hours 60%: $25.21 rising 2 steps to $26.41

From 2,000 to 3,999 hours 70%: $29.41 rising 2 steps to $30.81

From 4,000 to 5,999 hours 80%: $33.62 rising 2 steps to $35.22

From 6,000 to 8,000 hours 90%: $37.82 rising 2 steps to $39.62

Editor’s notes: Commuting allowance: $13.58 per day rising 2 steps to $14.13 for work between 24.1 and 32 kilometres from employee’s home; $15.81 per day rising 2 steps to $16.45 for work between 32.1 and 40 kilometres from employee’s home; $27.89 per day rising 2 steps to $29.02 for work between 40.1 and 80 kilometres from employee’s home. $0.58 per kilometre (previously $0.56 per hour) and cost of meals when employee travels by car at employer’s request. Effective May 1, 2020: $0.59 per kilometre. Effective April 30, 2021: $0.60 per kilometre. Parking: $25 per day on job sites located in City of Toronto within area bounded by Don Valley Parkway in east, Dufferin Street in west, York Mills Road in north, Lake Ontario in south (provided no free parking is available).
