Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 1, 2019 to Dec. 31, 2022. Signed on May 29, 2019.
Wage adjustments:
Effective Jan. 1, 2019: 1.75%
Effective Jan. 1, 2020: 2.25%
Effective Jan. 1, 2021: 2.5%
Effective Jan. 1, 2022: 3%
Paid holidays: 10 days, plus 1 additional day per year that is recognized to be provincial or civic holiday in area in which employee is employed or in any area where no such additional day is recognized as provincial or civic holiday, first Monday in August.
Vacations with pay: 10 hours per month to start, 13.33 hours per month after 8 years, 16.66 hours per month after 15 years, 20 hours per month after 20 years. Minimum 80 hours leave will be granted between June 1 and Sept. 30 (additional 5 days of leave will be given if employee’s vacation request is refused between June 1 and Sept. 30. Unused leave may be carried over or will be paid out by Dec. 31.
Overtime: Time and one-half for all hours after 40 hours per week, average over 4-week or 8-week shift schedule. Time and one-half for all work on day of rest. May be taken as leave.
Meal allowance: $18 (previously $15) for deckhand who works 3 or more hours of overtime immediately following scheduled hours of work; additional $18 after next 4 hours of overtime.
Medical benefits: Public Service Health Care Plan.
Sick leave: 10 hours per month.
Bereavement leave: 5 days for death in immediate family (father, mother, stepfather, stepmother, foster-parent, brother, sister, spouse, common-law spouse resident with employee, child, child of common-law spouse, stepchild, ward of employee, grandchild, father-in-law, mother-in-law, relative residing in employee’s household). 2 days for death of grandparent. 1 day for death of son-in-law, daughter-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, aunt, uncle.
Seniority – recall rights: 12 months.
Call-in pay: Greater of compensation at applicable overtime rate or compensation equivalent to 6 hours’ pay at straight-time rate for any time worked, provided that period of overtime worked is not contiguous to scheduled shift.
Probationary period: 6 months.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 2 years.
Severance: 2 weeks’ pay on first layoff, in first year of service; 3 weeks’ pay after 10 years of service; 4 weeks’ pay after 20 years of service, plus 1 week’s pay for each additional year of service, maximum 28 weeks. 1 week’s pay per year of service for second layoff, maximum 27 weeks.
Safety shoes: $150 per year or $300 every 2 years (previously $225 every 2 years) for CSA-approved safety footwear. Employer will provide 1 pair of CSA-approved rubber boots.
Uniforms/clothing: $550 plus applicable taxes (previously $500) to deckhands for work clothing purchased. Employer will provide 1 Transport Canada-approved flotation coat (flame orange or red) or inflatable PFD every 2 years. Employer will provide 1 set of rain-gear (high visibility as defined by ANSI (American National Standards Institute) or equivalent). Employer will provide CSA-approved safety sunglasses. Employer will provide one pair of thermal coveralls, if required. $380, plus applicable taxes (previously $350) for dispatchers to purchase wearing apparel.
