Renewal agreement: Effective April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2025. Signed on Aug. 9, 2022.
Shift premium: Time and one-quarter when majority of such shift falls 4 p.m. and 7 a.m. and employee works 2 or more consecutive shifts, with majority of shifts within that time period. $1 per hour when work is performed out-of-town and overnight travel is required.
Paid holidays: 11 days, including National Truth and Reconciliation Day.
Vacations with pay: 2 weeks or 4% after 1 year, 3 weeks or 6% after 5 years, 4 weeks or 8% after 10 years, 5 weeks or 10% after 25 years.
Overtime: Time and one-half for all work performed after regular working day of 8 hours, Monday to Friday inclusive.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for Electrical Industry Benefit Trust Fund of Alberta.
Dental: Coverage of 80% reimbursement, maximum $1,500 per person per year combined for both dental basic and major dental. 80% for orthodontic, lifetime maximum $1,500 per child younger than 17.
Sick leave: 3 days per year. Credits may not be carried over from year to next and employees will not be entitled to any payment for unused sick days when they expire.
Pension: Electrical Pension Group Fund of Alberta.
Bereavement leave: 3 days for death in immediate family (father, mother, grandparents, husband, wife, son, daughter, brother, sister, father-in-law, mother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, stepmother, stepfather, stepsister, stepbrother, stepson, stepdaughter). 2 additional days, 1 to be paid, for travel for funerals outside Alberta.
Call-in pay: Minimum 4 hours at applicable rate for any 1 call-in for emergency work (time and one-half for work performed on Saturday, Sunday, statutory holidays).
Probationary period: 720 hours worked.
Uniforms/clothing: $400 for inside workers (previously $250); $500 for outside workers (previously $350) per year.
Sample rates of hourly pay (current, after $1-per-hour increase):
Journeyman: $31.20 rising 2 steps to $32.20
Journeyman install/service: $34.08 rising 2 steps to $35.08
Foreman: $34.08 rising 2 steps to $35.08
Labourer: $18.29 rising 2 steps to $19.29
Editor’s notes: Overnight accommodation: When employee are required to work beyond where it would be reasonable to return home at night, employer will pay actual cost of room and board. Employees will be compensated $65 per day (previously $53 per day) for meals and if meals are more costly, actual cost will be covered by employer. Hiring incentive: $500 to employee who brings in another employee who successfully passes probationary period.
