Renewal agreement: Effective July 1,2022 to June 30, 2025. Signed on June 16, 2023.

Shift premium: $0.60 per hour for lead-hands who supervise 2 or more employees (but remain under direct supervision of supervisor). $1.57 per hour for employees working in new construction (defined as construction of new building providing new floor space or extension to present building). $1 per hour to operations and IT departments shifts starting between 3 p.m. and midnight. $1 per hour for education assistants, early learning coordinators, strong-start facilitators, with certification.

Paid holidays: 13 days, including National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Vacations with pay: 1.5 days per month, maximum 10 days, to start, 20 days after 1 year, 25 days after 6 years, 30 days after 13 years. 1 additional day for each year of service after 20 years of service. Employee can carry over time into following year, maximum 2 weeks.

Overtime: Time and one-half for first 2 hours worked; double time for balance of time worked. Double time for work on day of rest.

Sick leave: 1.5 days for each month of employment, maximum accumulation of 120 days.

Pension: Employer will match employee contribution to group RRSP, maximum 6%.

Bereavement leave: 5 days for death in immediate family (employee’s spouse, common-law partner, parent, sibling, child, parent-in-law, stepparent, stepchild, stepsibling, grandparent, grandchild). 1 day for death of any relative or friend not mentioned. 1 day to attend funeral as pallbearer.

Seniority – recall rights: 15 months after layoffs. Employee will not lose accumulated seniority if they are absent from work because of sickness, accident, leave of absence.

Call-in pay: Double time, minimum 2 hours for each call-in request.

Probationary period: 3 months worked from commencement of employment.

Severance: 2% of annual earnings to start; 4% of annual earnings after 6 months of service; 5% of annual earnings, pro-rated for each year’s service, after 1 year of service.

Safety shoes: $200 per year for custodians for appropriate footwear.

Editor’s notes: Retirement: 50%) of the accumulated sick leave will be paid out upon retirement of employee with 3 years of service. Career-development program: Employer will contribute $160 per full-time equivalent employee, employee will contribute $40 on pro-rata basis, to career development fund exclusively for use of bargaining unit members.
