Renewal agreement: Effective July 1, 2019 to Dec. 31, 2022. Ratified on Sept. 25, 2019 . Signed on Sept. 30, 2019.

Wage adjustments:

Effective Jan. 1, 2020: $0.15 per hour

Effective Jan. 1, 2021: $0.25 per hour

Effective Jan. 1, 2022: $0.25 per hour

Shift premium: 3 hours of shift at time and one-half when employer didn’t provide 8 clear hours of rest before start of changed shift. $0.75 per hour (excluding night switchboard already in receipt of premium) for night-shift employees (majority of hours worked between hours of 11 p.m. and 7 a.m.). $0.75 per hour for employees who perform 8 hours of service, exclusive of meal periods, within 10 consecutive hours in 1 day (double time if split shift exceeds 10 hours). Pay at higher rate for time worked for employees temporarily assigned to higher classification for 1 hour or more. $0.50 per hour will be paid to senior employees in classification who perform training on designated shifts (provided to newly hired employees or employees who transfer departments).

Paid holidays: 12 days.

Vacations with pay: 2 weeks or 4% after 1 year, 15 days or 6% after 4 years, 20 days or 8% after 9 years, 25 days or 10% after 17 years, 30 days or 12% after 20 years. Employee who has completed full time employment for 25 years will receive 1-time only additional 5 days vacation in recognition of service and dedication. Time must be used within 18 months or unused time will be paid out on first pay period following 18 months.

Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after 8 hours per day; 5 days per 7-day period; 40 hours in any 5-day period. Double time for all work after 12 hours per day.

Medical benefits: For employees hired before April 9, 1986, employer pays 100% of premiums; for employees hired after April 9, 1986, employer pays 55% of premiums, employee pays 45% of premiums.

Dental: Employer pays 55% of premiums, employee pays 45% of premiums. 80% reimbursement, maximum $1,500 per year.

Vision: Employer pays 55% of premiums, employee pays 45% of premiums. $150 every 2 years.

Sick leave: 6 days per year after 1 year of service; 9 days per year after 2 years of service. Employees who do not use any of sick days during year will be paid out for 50% of sick days at end of each year.

Pension: After 5 years of service, employer will match employee contributions into RRSP, maximum $250 per year. Effective 2021: $275 per year. Effective 2022: $300 per year.

Bereavement leave: 3 days for death in immediate family (death of father, mother, spouse, common law partner, child, brother, sister, father-in-law, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, grandchildren, stepchildren, stepparents, grandparents, grandparents-in-law).

Probationary period: 60 calendar days.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 6 months for warnings, suspensions.

Safety shoes: $75 per pair, maximum 1 pair on anniversary date, for CSA-approved non-slip safety footwear for employees working full time on cooking line in La Ronde and main kitchen, stewarding, purchasing departments. $150 per pair, maximum 1 pair on anniversary date, for CSA-approved safety boots and 1 size large and medium winter coveralls for those employees in maintenance department and union purchasing.

Uniforms/clothing: Employees who are entitled to wear uniforms or special apparel during working hours, will have uniforms or special apparel supplied, laundered, kept in proper repair by employer free of any charge. Bellman, in-room dining white shirts will be part of uniform and will be supplied and laundered by employer.

Tool allowance: Employer will consider replacing employees tools when tool is broken while performing work on behalf of hotel; when tool, used predominately in service of hotel, becomes worn out.

Editor’s notes: Meals: All employees will be entitled to receive wholesome meal upon payment of $3.50, except for chef and steward department who will receive same at no charge. Staff meetings: Employees required to attend staff meetings called by management will receive minimum of 3 hours’ pay at same rate as they receive when on regular duty. Probation training pay: $0.75 less per hour for each classification for maximum period of 60 days. Guaranteed minimum pay: During term of agreement, no rate will be less than $0.65 per hour above provincial minimum hourly wage rate.
