Renewal agreement: Effective July 29, 2019 to April 30, 2022. Signed on Sept. 27, 2019.

Shift premium: $6.21 per hour (previously $6.09 per hour) for A foremen. Effective May 1, 2021: $6.32 per hour. One-half hour of pay for shifts other than regular shift (day shift) up to midnight (night shift). 1 hour of pay for graveyard shift crosses after midnight up to 7 a.m. 10% employees required to work underground on industrial projects.

Paid holidays: 12 days, plus 2 additional holidays.

Vacations with pay: 3 weeks to start.

Overtime: Paid at 150% for first 2 hours worked outside regular workday; 200% for any additional hours during that day. 150% will apply for first 8 hours of Saturday; 200% for all hours worked on Sundays, statutory holidays.

Meal allowance: Employer will supply meal at end of 2 hours of overtime, plus one-half hour pay at straight time to consume it. Additional rest break each 2 hours and meal break each 4 hours thereafter will be given.

Medical benefits: Employer will contribute $2.83 per hour to sheet metal workers health benefit fund.

Pension: Employer will contribute $2.83 per hour to sheet metal workers pension fund.

Bereavement leave: 3 unpaid days on death of member of employee’s immediate family (spouse, child, parent, guardian, sibling, grandchild, grandparent, any others as stated in Employment Standards Act).

Severance: 1 hour’s notice of layoff or 1 hour of straight-time pay in lieu thereof (at employer’s option).

Uniforms/clothing: $0.12 per hour (previously $0.10 per hour) tool and clothing allowance for journeyman sheet metal, foreman.

Sheet metal journeyman: $40.72 rising 2 steps to $42.38

Journeyman cladder: $40.72 rising 2 steps to $42.38

A foreman: $46.81 rising 2 steps to $48.70

B foreman: $44.78 rising 2 steps to $46.59

Journeyman welder: $40.60 rising 2 steps to $42.26

Repetitious welder 85%: $34.51 rising 2 steps to $35.92

Material man 75%: $30.54 rising 2 steps to $31.79

Material man 50%: $20.36 rising 2 steps to $21.19

First-year journeyman (0 to 1,600 hours) 90%: $36.65 rising 2 steps to $38.14

Pre-apprentice: 40% of journeyman rate

Roll-former journeyman: $40.72 rising 2 steps to $42.38

82.5% of journeyman rate: $33.59 rising 2 steps to $34.96

70% of journeyman rate: $28.50 rising 2 steps to $29.66

50% of journeyman rate: $20.36 rising 2 steps to $21.19

40% of journeyman rate: $16.29 rising 2 steps to $16.95

First-year journeyman

0 to 1,600 hours: 90% of journeyman rate

More than 1,600 hours: 100% of journeyman rate

Editor’s notes: Apprenticeship and training fund: All sheet-metal apprentices will have $1 per hour deducted from wages and remitted to trustees of sheet-metal industry training board; $0.39 per hour will be remitted by employer. Local union promotion fund: Employer will deduct from each employee $0.03 per hour and remit money deducted to Local 280 promotion fund. Out-of-town jobs: All new employees required on out-of-town jobs will receive fare equivalent to costs of transportation that would place them on site in shortest period of time, plus $30 cab fare from home to public transportation (regular air fares, ferry fares, bus fares or combination). Employees will also receive $35 expenses in lieu of travel time.
