Renewal agreement: Effective June 1, 2018 to May 31, 2021. Ratified on Sept. 5, 2019. Signed on Nov. 29, 2019.
Wage adjustments:
Effective June 1, 2018: 0%
Effective June 1, 2019: 0.5%
Effective June 1, 2020: 1.5%
Shift premium: Double time for daily hours worked on first day of changed schedule for employees who are not given minimum of 48 hours’ notice of adjustments of schedule. $1.65 per hour for all shifts worked that end between 1 a.m. and 8:01 a.m. $1 per hour for all shifts worked that end between 8 p.m. and 1:01 a.m. 1 hour extra pay, at regular rate, for each Saturday, Sunday shift worked.
Paid holidays: 12 days.
Vacations with pay: 2 weeks (80 hours) after 1 year, 3 weeks (120 hours) after 2 years, 4 weeks (160 hours) after 8 years, 5 weeks (200 hours) after 18 years, 6 weeks (240 hours) after 25 years. Upon termination, employees will be paid for any accrued vacation not taken.
Overtime: Double time for all work after 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week. May be taken as time off in lieu. May be banked but any hours after 20 accumulated as of Dec. 31 each year will be paid out unless time off has been scheduled and approved to be taken after Dec. 31.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Sick leave: 80 hours, after 1 year of service (time off paid at 80% of regular rate). Unused time may be carried forward, maximum 40 hours.
LTD: Employee pays 100% of premiums.
AD&D: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Pension: Employees become members of Local Authorities Pension Plan.
Seniority – recall rights: 12 months for layoffs; 2 years for employee who is transferred outside bargaining unit.
Call-in pay: Minimum compensation of 1.5 hours at applicable overtime rate. Any time spent beyond 1.5 hours will be paid at applicable overtime rate for all time worked.
Probationary period: 6 months of continuous service (may be extended, maximum 3 months).
Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months for record of disciplinary action.
Severance: 1 week of pay to start; 1 week of pay for each year of service after 1 year of service. 2 weeks of pay in lieu of notice for employee who was laid off without notice, and is not recalled to work within 12 months.
Safety shoes: $7 (previously $5) per pay period to employees who are required as condition of employment to buy and wear CSA-approved safety boots.
Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide necessary protective clothing when employees are required to handle and dispose of biological waste, biohazardous materials.
