Renewal agreement: Effective May 1, 2019 to Nov. 19, 2020. Ratified on Nov. 7, 2019. Signed on April 23, 2020.
Wage adjustments:
Effective year 1: 0%
Shift premium: Time and one-half for work on same day and same number of hours but with different start time (without minimum 72 hours’ notice) when schedule is changed; work on shifts other than what employee is scheduled for (without minimum 72 hours’ notice) when schedule is changed. $1.85 per hour (previously $1.50 per hour) for employee working majority of hours between midnight and 8:45 a.m.
Paid holidays: 12 days. Employee may accumulate maximum 3 days in lieu of holidays worked, must be taken by March 31 of following year.
Vacations with pay: 2 weeks or 10 days to start, 3 weeks or 15 days after 1 year, 4 weeks or 20 days after 2 years, 5 weeks or 25 days after 5 years, 6 weeks or 30 days after 9 years, 7 weeks or 35 days after 19 years. 2 weeks or 8 days to start, 3 weeks or 12 days after 1 year, 4 weeks or 16 days after 2 years, 5 weeks or 20 days after 5 years, 6 weeks or 24 days after 9 years, 7 weeks or 28 days after 19 years for employees working 4-day workweek (35 hours per week). 2 weeks to start, 3 weeks after 1 years, 4 weeks after 2 years, 5 weeks after 5 years, 6 weeks after 9 years, 7 weeks after 19 years for employees working more than 18 hours but less than 35 hours per week. Upon termination of employment, employees will be paid for any vacation days accrued but not yet taken. Employee may carry forward maximum 35 hours of vacation leave to next vacation year.
Overtime: Time and one-half for first 4 hours of work after 7 or 8.75 hours per day or 44 hours per week; double time after 4 hours of overtime. May be taken as time off in lieu; must be taken within 30 days of earning. Time and one-half for all work on first scheduled day off (with less than 7 days’ notice); double time for all work on second scheduled day off and all subsequent days.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for government-operated hospital medical insurance plan. Employer will reimburse employee $75 per month for cost of non-group family health and dental premiums when employee has individually obtained non-group (not through employer) family health and dental benefits (such as through Blue Cross).
Sick leave: 7.58 hours per month, maximum accrual of 91 hours in any 1 year. Sick time not used by end of year can be rolled over into new year but may not exceed maximum entitlement. During employee’s first year, after probation, employee may taken maximum 3 days as wellbeing days. After 1 year of service, maximum 8 days per year may be taken as wellbeing days.
LTD: Employee pays 100% of premiums.
AD&D: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Pension: Employer will contribute maximum 4% of employee’s gross salary to RRSP of employee’s choice (after 9 months of service). Contributions may be increased, on matching basis, to 6% after 6 years of service.
Bereavement leave: 3 days for death of relative (mother, father, brother, sister, spouse, common-law spouse, child, foster-child, guardian, mother-in-law or father-in-law, grandchild , grandparent of employee or of spouse, common-law spouse, aunt , uncle of employee). 1 day due to death of aunt or uncle of employee’s spouse, common-law spouse. 1 additional day of paid leave (before and after 3 days) if required for travel or for executor duties. 1 day to attend funeral as pallbearer or mourner.
Seniority – recall rights: 60 calendar days for employees who post into temporary position outside of bargaining unit; 1 year after layoff.
Probationary period: First 90 days of employment for full-time or part-time employees; 180 calendar days for relief employees.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months for any record of discipline.

Editor’s notes: Professional fees: Employer will reimburse employees 50% per year of cost of 1 designation required by position employee holds. Paid personal days: Full-time, part-time employees will receive on Jan. 1, 2020 entitlement to take additional allotment of paid time off as follows: full-time employees will receive 2 paid personal days; part-time employees will receive 1 paid personal day. Employees must use paid personal days prior to expiry of collective agreement.
