Wage adjustments:
Effective May 1, 2018: 1.6%
Effective on May 1, 2019: rates of pay will be increased by CPI national annual average for previous calendar year.
Effective on May 1, 2020: rates of pay will be increased by CPI national annual average for previous calendar year, but in no case by less than 0% and not more than 2%.
Shift premium: $2.31 per hour northern allowance for Churchill employees; $1.53 per hour northern allowance for Gillam employees (previously $200 per month). $0.50 per hour for facilitating cargo handling for Gillam customer-service agents.
Paid holidays: 11 days.
Vacations with pay: 3 weeks or 1.25 days per month after 1 year, 4 weeks or 1.67 days per month after 15 years, 5 weeks or 2.08 days per month after 25 years. Time may not be accumulated from year to year, without agreement of employer and employee.
Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after 40 hours per week. May be banked, maximum 80 hours at any given time. All unused time will be paid out on March 31.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums. $300 per employee every 2 years, which can be used for glasses or eye examinations.
Sick leave: 1 hour per pay period, maximum 24 hours per year.
STD: Employee pays 100% of premiums.
LTD: Employee pays 100% of premiums.
Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Pension: All employees will enroll in employer pension plan, after 1 year of service. Employees will contribute 5%, employee will contribute 5% to plan. After 10 years of service, employees may increase to 6%, which will be matched by employer.
Bereavement leave: 5 days (3 days paid) for death in immediate family (spouse (including common-law), children of employee (including adopted, foster, ward), parents (including spouse or common-law partner of parents), grandparents of employee or spouse, brothers and sisters of employee or spouse, other relatives residing with employee).
Seniority – recall rights: 18 months.
Call-in pay: Greater of actual time worked at time and one-half or 3 hours’ straight time. When minimum is paid, employee may be required to work corresponding hours.
Probationary period: 6 months of active employment.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 2 years.
Safety shoes: $300 per year for approved footwear.
Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide, and replace as necessary due to normal wear and tear, CSA-approved standard hearing protection for each employee who performs duties on ramp. $125 every 24months for outerwear accessories such as black snow pants, black mitts, black gloves, black scarf. Employee’s winter coat will be replaced every 5years; spring/summer jackets will be replaced every 3 years; all other uniform pieces will be replaced after 2 years.

Editor’s notes: Staff meetings: Employee who is required by employer to attend staff meeting will be paid for time at meeting. When employee is not scheduled to commence work at conclusion of meeting or end shift at commencement of meeting, employee will be paid minimum of 3 hours at regular rate provided that employee performs work, if any, that may be assigned during 3-hour period commencing at start of staff meeting. Medical documentation: Employees will be reimbursed for reasonable fees incurred by employee for required medical documentation, total maximum $100 per year. Outside work: Employer will provide insect repellant, sun-block for employees as reasonably required at work. Loyalty pay: $0.25 per hour after 2 years of service; $0.50 after 5 years of service; $1.50 after 10 years of service (previously $1 per hour); $2.25 after 15 years of service (previously $2 per hour). Per diems: $81.50 per day while in YYQ, YEK, YRT, YBK ($36 for supper; $26 for lunch; $19.50 for breakfast). $55 per day while in YTH, YGX, YQD, YFO ($25 for supper; $15 for lunch; $15 for breakfast).
