Renewal agreement: Effective March 23, 2023, to March 23, 2028.

Wage adjustments:

Effective March 23, 2024: 1.5%

Effective March 23, 2025: 1.4%

Effective March 23, 2026: 1.5%

Effective March 23, 2027: 2%

Paid holidays: Statutory Holidays observed shall be in accordance with the Canadian North ‘Company Employee Policies.’

Vacations with pay: For all members including Yellowknife NWT: 3 weeks to start, 4 weeks after 10 years, 5 weeks after 15 years. For Northern Resident, Non-Rotational Members: 3 weeks to start, 4 weeks after 2 years, 5 weeks after 10 years, 6 weeks after 20 years.

Overtime: Overtime pay dependent on shift type.

Meal allowance: $20.00, when meals are not provided, for those who work 2 or more hours beyond the end of a regularly scheduled shift of 11 ½ hours or more, or to those who work 3 hours beyond a regularly scheduled shift of less than 11 ½ hours.

Medical benefits: Group insurance plan.

Dental: Premium cost 50% company paid.

Sick leave: 113 hours a year of Wellness Leave at the beginning of each calendar year for full time members. 70 hours a year of Wellness Leave at the beginning of each calendar year for part time members.

STD: Premium cost 100% company paid.

LTD: Premium cost 100% employee paid.

AD&D: Premium cost 100% company paid.

Life insurance: Premium cost 100% company paid.

Bereavement leave: 7 consecutive calendar days for the death of a spouse, parent (including step-parent), sibling (including step-sibling), child (including step-child), for a member or their spouse’s family. 5 consecutive calendar days for the death of a grandparent of member or their spouse, or relative living with the member. 3 consecutive calendar days for the death of a grandchild.

Call-in pay: On Call premium in addition to the minimum call in of 3 ½ hours pay or actual time worked, whichever is greater.

Probationary period: 6 months.

Severance: 1 week’s pay for each complete 12 months of service up to a maximum of 26 weeks’ pay for a member who takes a voluntary lay-off. 1 week’s pay for every 6 consecutive months of service to a maximum of 52 weeks for a member who is permanently laid off.

Uniforms/clothing: New members shall have an initial allotment to allow for the selection of their uniform pieces. Existing members shall receive an annual allotment to allow for the selection of replacement/additional pieces.

Sample rates of pay (current, after increase):

Clerk 1, Groomer – level 1: $17.31, up 4 steps to $18.18.

Building MTC Tech 1, GSE Apprentice, Clerk 2 – level 1: $18.66, up 4 steps to $19.90.

Material Control Supervisor, Interior Aircraft Supervisor, Building Maintenance Tech 2, GSE tech no license – level 1: $27.17, up 4 steps to $28.97.

Editor’s notes: Members who have Transport Canada accepted Delegate privileges will be paid an additional 5% on their hourly wage rate. Members who work a holiday shall receive straight time for the regular hours of the shift plus time and 1 ½ for hours worked.
