Renewal agreement: Effective June 15, 2022 to June 14, 2025. Signed on Jan. 30, 2023.
Paid holidays: 7 days.
Vacations with pay: 2 weeks after 12 months, 3 weeks after 6 years, 4 weeks after 12 years.
Overtime: Time and one-half for work after 40 hours per week. Employees may bank maximum 200 hours to be used as time off, sick leave, or other purposes and all banked hours must be taken before end of March each year.
Life insurance: Coverage of $15,000.
Bereavement leave: 4 days for death of spouse, common-law partner, child. 3 days for death of parents, stepparents, parents-in-law, sister, brother, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, legal guardian, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandparents, grandchildren. Additional 3 days, without pay, for bereavement travel.
Seniority – recall rights: 18 months after layoff. 90) days worked from date of appointment for employees permanently appointed to position at site outside bargaining unit.
Call-in pay: Minimum 4 hours pay at regular straight-time rate.
Probationary period: 400 hours worked.
Severance: $150 for every year of service, provided employee has worked 12 years with employer for full-time employees who retire or who lose recall rights because of loss of contract.
Safety shoes: $120 every second year (previously $100 every second year) .
Uniforms/clothing: Initial issue upon enrolment consists of: 1 cap; 4 shirts; 1 embroidered sweater; 2 pairs of trousers; 1 black belt; 1 3-season embroidered jacket with zip-out lining; 1 reversible raincoat; 1 rain cap-cover. Items will be replaced after 24 months, except shirts and pants which will be replaced yearly upon request. Protective clothing such as wind pants, fire-retardant clothes, hard hats will be provided where such items are required.
Sample rates of hourly pay (current, after 8.7% increase):
Security officer: $16.19 rising 2 steps to $17.60
Shift supervisor: $17.34 rising 2 steps to $18.84
Editor’s notes: Floating holidays: Based on following hours worked in previous year, employees will be given 2 8-hour days after working 1,001 to 1,500 hours per year (all employees); 5 8-hour days after working 1,501 hours and more (permanent employees). Holidays only apply after 1 year of service. Drug/alcohol testing: $20 per test when employees are requested to conduct drug/alcohol testing.
