Renewal agreement: Effective Nov. 5, 2020 to Dec. 31, 2022. Ratified on Nov. 5, 2020. Signed on Dec. 8, 2020. (First agreement)

Shift premium: Employee will receive overtime rate for each 15 minutes that employee is short of 8 hours when employee has shift changed and employee  receives less than 8 hours free from duty.

Paid holidays: 10 days.

Vacations with pay: 4% to start, 2 weeks or 4% after 1 year, 3 weeks or 6% after 5 years.

Overtime: Time and one-half for all additional hours worked in week or for all hours worked in excess of employee’s regularly scheduled shift. Time and one-half for all hours worked in excess of average of 42 hours per week over period covered by averaging agreement. Time and one-half for all hours worked after 8 hours per day or 44 hours per week for impound custodian.

Medical benefits: Employee pays 100% of premiums for extended health care coverage.

Dental: Employee pays 100% of premiums. 80% coverage for level 1 basic services; 80% coverage for level 2 supplementary basic services; 50% coverage for level 3 dentures; 50% coverage for level 4 major restorative services. Combined maximum $1,000 per person per year.

Vision: 1 eye exam per year; $200 every 2 years for glasses or contacts.

Paramedical: $500 per calendar year and $50 per year for X-rays for chiropractor. $500 each per year for physiotherapist, certified athletic therapist, podiatrist, massage therapist, speech therapist, osteopath, psychologist, marriage therapist, family therapist, dietician and nutritionist, acupuncture.

Sick leave: 24 hours per year. Unused time will not be paid out or banked to next year.

LTD: Employee pays 100% of premiums (maximum $64.78 per month) for coverage of 60% of gross earnings, maximum of $2,500 per month. Coverage terminated 119 days before 65th birthday.

AD&D: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of $15,000.

Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of $15,000.

Bereavement leave: 3 days for death of immediate, extended family member, close relative, any person who is not related to employee but employee considers to be like close relative.

Seniority – recall rights: 90 days for employee promoted to any position outside bargaining unit; 12 months after layoff.

Call-in pay: Minimum 3 hours of pay; minimum 3 hours of pay at overtime rates for employees called-in after working day is completed.

Probationary period: 3 months, excluding periods of absence from work that exceeds 7 consecutive days.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months for disciplinary records placed on file, including reprimands.

Safety shoes: $100 for purchase of CSA-approved footwear if required at site.

Mileage: $0.455 per kilometre for all time spent and travel costs incurred if employee is required to use personal vehicle for work activities based on round-trip distance from Lethbridge police station to work site employee is required to travel to. Mileage rates will apply when any work related travel is required outside of Lethbridge city limits.

Sample rates of hourly pay (current, after 8.5% increase):

Front desk/cell blocks/impound lot: $16.50 rising 3 steps to $18.25

Photo radar: $17 rising 3 steps to $18.50

Summons: $17.50 rising 3 steps to $19

Team leader: $17.50 rising 3 steps to $19

Editor’s notes: Hearing aids: $500 every 5 years.
