Renewal agreement: Effective March 1, 2023 to February 28, 2026. Signed on March 2, 2023.
Shift premium: $0.25 per hour for first-aid certificate holders. $1.50 per hour for employees who work designed night shift.
Paid holidays: 12 days.
Vacations with pay: 4% to start, greater of 80 hours or 4% after 1 year, greater of 120 hours or 6% after 4 years, greater of 160 hours or 8% after 8 years, greater of 200 hours or 10% after 17 years.
Overtime: Time and one-half for work after 8 or 10 hours per day; double time after 10 hours per day.
Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Basic treatment: 80% covered, maximum $2,000 per year. Orthodontic treatment: 50% covered, $5,000 lifetime maximum each, available only for plan members, spouses and children ages 6 to 18. Accidental dental injury treatment: 100% covered, $2,000 maximum per accident.
Vision: Coverage of $275 each year for glasses and contact lenses; $100 per exam, once every 2 years.
STD: Coverage of 66.67% of weekly earnings, maximum $850 per week, maximum 26 weeks.
LTD: Coverage of 60% of monthly earnings, maximum $2,500 per month, after 26 weeks.
AD&D: Coverage of $45,000.
Life insurance: Coverage of $45,000.
Pension: Employer will contribute $1.75 per hour into Steelworkers Members’ Pension Benefit Plan.
Bereavement leave: 4 days for death in immediate family (father, father-in-law, mother, mother-in-law, legal spouse, son, daughter, brother, sister of employee, son-in-law, daughter-in-law).
Seniority – recall rights: 18 consecutive months after layoff for lack of work; 18 months when employee has not performed any work because of illness or injury.
Call-in pay: Double time for all hours worked on recall, up to starting time of regular scheduled shift, minimum 2 hours.
Probationary period: 90 calendar days from employee’s most recent starting date.
Safety shoes: Employer will reimburse employee, maximum $225 (previously $175) for safety boots, once per year.
Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide gloves, hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators (as required), winter wear (as required). Employer will provide winter-rated coveralls and winter-rated safety boots to outside yard workers, truck drivers and maintenance employees only.

Overhead crane operator (in cab): $31 rising 2 steps to $32.25
Mobile crane operator (in cab): $30.50 rising 2 steps to $31.75
Warehouse/PM: $29 rising 2 steps to $30.25
Paint shop and south crane crew
Spray painter/sandblaster and loader (south crane operator): $31.50 rising 2 steps to $32.75
Sandblaster/loader (south crane operator): $29.50 rising 2 steps to $30.75
Entry-level job title: paint shop and south crane labourer (bid position): $23 rising 2 steps to $24.25
Effective March 1, 2023: $1,500 ratification bonus
Editor’s notes: Apprenticeship allowance: If employee successfully completes apprenticeship courses, employer will pay employee $150 book allowance for each week of absence to attend apprenticeship courses, provided employee returns to work following courses and remains employed for minimum 6 months; allowance will be paid upon expiry of 6-month period. Employer will pay $1,000 book allowance to employee (minimum 5 years of service) who successfully challenges any apprenticeship course exam and returns to work for employer. Humanity fund: Employer will deduct $20 once per year from wages of each employee to United Steelworkers charitable fund.
