Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 1, 2023 to Dec. 31, 2025. Signed on Dec. 15, 2022.
Wage adjustments:
Effective Jan. 1, 2023: 5%
Effective Jan. 1, 2024: 4%
Effective Jan. 1, 2025: 3%
Shift premium: $3 per hour for all work on evening or night shift. $4 per hour (previously $2 per hour) for operating foreman. $5.25 per hour (previously $4 per hour) for non-operating foreman. $7 per hour (previously $7 per hour) for general foreman. $0.20 per hour for boom- or mast-mounted cabs on all hammerhead and tower cranes. $2 per hour for twin ring, Transi-Lifts, strand jack, RMS lifting system, jacking system with capacity greater than 450 tons. $1 per hour for ringer, max-er, super lift, sky horse, ring horse, tower, luffing jib.
Paid holidays: 11 days.
Overtime: Time and one half for all hours worked after 8 hours in any given 24-hour period. Double time for work on Sundays and holidays.
Meal allowance: Employer will provide 1 meal or $40 for second meal break when employee is requested to work overtime and employee works 12 hours or more. Subsequent meals will also be provided by employer as near to regular 4-hour intervals as possible.
Pension: Operating Engineers Local 955 Pension Trust Fund.
Bereavement leave: 3 days death of member of immediate family.
Call-in pay: Minimum of 2.5 hours’ pay at time and one-half.
Safety shoes: $300 per year (previously $150 per year), inclusive of GST, when employee works in areas where approved footwear is required.
Uniforms/clothing: Employer on request will issue up to 2 pairs of coveralls to long-term employees each 12 months.
Sample rates of hourly pay (current, after 10% increase):
Group 1 (including second-class steam engineer): $58.73 rising 2 steps to $64.50
Group 2 (including third-class steam engineer): $52.57 rising 2 steps to $57.91
Group 3 (including firefighter): $49.98 rising 2 steps to $55.14
Group 4: $47.31 rising 2 steps to $52.27
Group 5: $44.61 rising 2 steps to $48.92
Editor’s notes: Standby: 2 hours of pay at time and one-half for each period of duty. Each standby period will not exceed 24 consecutive hours, maximum 3 consecutive standby periods. Training fund: Employer will contribute $0.05 per hour for each hour worked to all employees to IUOE training fund.
