Renewal agreement: Effective April 1, 2019 to March 31, 2022. Ratified May 2019. Signed on July 16, 2019.
Wage adjustments:
Effective April 1, 2019: 1.5%
Effective April 1, 2020: 1.5%
Effective April 1, 2021: 1.5%
Shift premium: $1.35 per hour for shift beginning at or after noon. $1.70 per hour for all hours on weekend. Time and one-half when employee works more than 2 weekends out of every 4 weekends; employee working every second weekend for employees working 11-hour tour. Time and one-half when employee works on seventh consecutive tours and subsequent hours; sixth consecutive tour for employee working combination of normal and extended tours. Minimum $0.35 per hour for all time spent performing duties of higher classification when employee performs full duties of higher-paid classification, for 1 full shift or longer. $1 per hour when employee performs additional team-leader responsibility to direct, supervise, oversee work of employees.
Paid holidays: 10 days, plus 2 float holidays.
Vacations with pay: 1.67 days per full month of service to start, 5 weeks after 15 years, 6 weeks after 23 years.
Overtime: Time and one-half for hours worked in excess of employee’s scheduled tour that day; 70 hours per biweekly pay; all hours on scheduled day off.
Meal allowance: $7.50 when employee works 2 hours of overtime or more immediately prior to or following normal shift.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for extended health plan.
Dental: Employer pays 80 % of premiums, employee pays 20% for dental insurance. Services combined maximum $2,500 per person per year.
Vision: $400 per 24-month period, includes laser surgery.
Paramedical: $500 per benefit year (services must have been prescribed by physician).
Sick leave/STD: 1 week per year of service at full pay, rest of up to 15 weeks at 60%.
LTD: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
AD&D: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for group life insurance.
Pension: Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP plan).
Bereavement leave: 3 consecutive working days with pay for death of sibling, grandparent, grandchild, parent-in-law, child-in-law, sibling-in-law including day of funeral. 2 additional days for death of spouse, parent, child. 1 day for funeral of niece, nephew, aunt, uncle. Employees may apply for additional unpaid leave, which will not be unreasonably withheld.
Seniority – recall rights: 18 months for layoffs (24 months for reasons other than layoff); 1 year for employee who accepts position outside of bargaining unit; 30 months for employee who is absent from work and in receipt of Workplace Safety and Insurance Benefits as result of injury or illness incurred while employed by employer.
Call-in pay: Time and one-half for all hours worked. Time and one-half for call-in after regularly scheduled tour for minimum of 4 hours.
Probationary period: 825 hours worked or 8 months, whichever comes first (previously 665 hours or 6 months).
Discipline: Sunset clause is 18 months.
Severance: 1 week for each year of service (when employee has received individual notice of long-term layoff).
Mileage: $0.53 per kilometre for first 5,000 kilometres per year; $0.46 per kilometre for each subsequent kilometre, for employees who use automobile to perform duties for employer.

Editor’s notes: Temporary recalls: Laid-off employees are eligible, in order of seniority, for temporary recalls of 3 to 8 months. During this time, employees are not entitled to notice of layoff or bumping rights and time used to determine benefits continuance or recall will be frozen. Pre-paid leave: Employees may spread 4 years’ salary over 5-year period to enable them to take 1-year leave of absence in fifth year. Citizenship leave: 1 day off with pay to take oath of citizenship at citizenship court. Weekends: Employer must make every reasonable effort to provide employees with 3 out of every 4 weekends off but in no circumstance will employee working normal daily tour be required to work more than 2 out of every 4 weekends without overtime pay. Influenza vaccinations: Employer to cover cost if requiring vaccinations and cost isn’t covered by other source. If employee refuses, employee may be placed on unpaid leave of absence or use vacation credits during any influenza outbreak. Standby: $3.50 per hour for standby ($4.50 on paid holiday). Hearing aids: $500 every 36 months. Liability insurance: Employer will provide minimum $5,000,000 per incident coverage for employees.
