Renewal agreement: Effective July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2023. Signed on Oct. 20, 2020.
Paid holidays: 13 days including Rendezvous Friday, Easter Monday, National Indigenous Peoples Day.
Vacations with pay: Employees will be entitled to 1 month of 61-day summer break period plus any days which are not statutory holidays that fall within Christmas break and spring break.
Overtime: Time and one-half for work after 7.5 hours in 24-hour period or 37.5 hours in 1 week. May be banked, maximum 37.5 hours in bank (once employee has accumulated 37.5 hours of lieu time, future overtime must be paid out in cash until 37.5 hours has been reduced). May be taken as compensatory leave but any unused compensatory time remaining in bank at Aug. 31 each year will be paid out in cash.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Employer will provide $1,250 per year for self-directed benefits plan.
Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Sick leave: 1.5 working days credit for each month worked, maximum accumulation from year to year of 795 hours, prorated for regular part-time employees.
LTD: Employee pays 100% of premiums, employer will pay allowance equal to 50% of premium paid on monthly basis.
Pension: Employee may enroll in employer’s group RRSP. Employer will match employee contribution, maximum 5% (previously $4.5%).
Bereavement leave: 3 days for death in family (parent, stepparent, foster-parent, grandparent, grandchild, sibling, stepsibling, partner or spouse, child (including child to whom employee stands in place of parent), partner of employee’s child (including child to whom employee stands in place of parent), partner’s parent or sibling, aunt or uncle, niece or nephew, any other person residing with employee at time of death or imminent death. Employee may be given additional leave, without pay, for up to 5 days.
Seniority – recall rights: 3 years for employee who is elected as president of Yukon Employees’ Union; 1 year for absence, without pay, due to care and nurturing of immediate family member; 6 months for employee who accepts acting assignment outside bargaining unit. 1 year for layoffs, after 3 months of service; 6 months for probationary employees.
Probationary period: 9 working months (period may be extended for additional period of time upon terms agreed to between employer and union).
Discipline: Sunset clause is 24 months for any notice of disciplinary action.
Severance: 1 day’s pay multiplied by number of years of employment (pro-rated for regular part-time employees) based on employee’s full-time equivalency at time of termination after 10 years of service; 1.5 days’ pay multiplied by number of years of employment (pro-rated for regular part-time employees) based on employee’s full-time equivalency at time of termination after 20 years of service.
Mileage: When employee is requested by employer to use personal vehicle for job-related purposes, employer will pay employee allowance at rate paid by government of Yukon on April 1 as adjusted each year.

Editor’s notes: Travel meals: When employee is required to travel for work-related purposes, employer will pay meal, incidental expenses at following rates: $15.20 for breakfast; $15.20 for lunch; $45.75 for dinner inside Yukon and $13.60 for breakfast; $12.85 for lunch; $36.30 for dinner outside Yukon (incidentals $11.50 regardless of location). Community allowance: $50, paid biweekly, for regular full-time employees, term full-time employees who reside and work outside of Whitehorse area. Yukon bonus: $800 on each anniversary date of hire for employee who has completed 1,787 hours with employer; $900 after 5 years or service; $1,000 after 7 years of service (previously $1,050 after 7 years of service). Registration/licensing fees: Employer will reimburse employee maximum $200 per year for relevant license or registration fees when employee is registered or licensed by recognized territorial, provincial or other applicable organization. Long-service bonus: Employee who has reached 10, 15, 20 or 25 years of seniority will be entitled to 1-time bonus equivalent to 2% of base earnings in previous operating year (August startup date to July of following year), payable on employee’s anniversary date.
