Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 6, 2018 to Jan. 3, 2021. Ratified on April 18, 2019. Signed on July 17, 2019.

Wage adjustments:

Effective Dec. 23, 2019: 1.5%

Shift premium: $1 per hour to employees for any hours of shift (excluding overtime) performed between 6 p.m. and 7 a.m. of next day. When majority of hours of shift occurs between 6 p.m. and 7 a.m. of next day, shift differential will apply to all hours worked. 1) hour extra straight time pay for each full Saturday or Sunday shift so worked for all employees whose regular and scheduled work week includes work on Saturday or Sunday.

Paid holidays: 10 days plus latter one-half day on last scheduled working day preceding Christmas Day.

Vacations with pay: 2 weeks or 75 hours after 1 year, 3 weeks or 114 hours after 2 years, 4 weeks or 152 hours after 8 years, 5 weeks or 190 hours after 17 years, 6 weeks or 228 hours after 25 years, 7 weeks or 266 hours after 30 years.

Overtime: Double time for all work after 38 hours per week. May be banked and taken as time off in lieu of overtime pay, maximum 38 overtime hours (76 straight-time hours) in any year. Any overtime accumulated in year 1 must be scheduled and taken as time off prior to end of year 2. Employer will pay out any remaining banked overtime, in pay period 3 of following year (year 3).

Medical benefits: Municipal Employees Benefit Association of Calgary.

Pension: Local Authorities Pension Plan.

Bereavement leave: 7 days for death in immediate family (current spouse (including common-law spouse, same-gender spouse), parent, stepparent, guardian, brother, stepbrother, sister, stepsister, child, stepchild, foster-child, ward, grandparents, stepgrandparents of employee, grandchild, stepgrandchild, related dependant living in household of employee, parent-in-law, stepparent-in-law, brother-in-law, stepbrother-in-law, sister-in-law, stepsister-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandparent-in-law, stepgrandparent-in-law). 2 additional unpaid days may be granted upon request. Employees in immediate work division may be allowed to attend, maximum of 1 day, or to act as pallbearers for funeral of member of union who died, on or off job, with pay.

Seniority – recall rights: 12 months.

Call-in pay: Double time for all hours so worked, minimum 2 hours at double time for each call-in.

Probationary period: 6-month period of work.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months. If subsequent discipline is issued, all discipline will remain on file for 24 months from date of issue. Discipline greater than written warnings will remain on file for 24 months from date of issue.

Severance: 2 week’s pay at one-half regular pay for each year served beyond 10 year, maximum 26 weeks, after 10 years of service with respect to technological change only.

Safety shoes: Employees assigned to work with tar kettles (tar-kettle operators, hot-box operators) oil distributors, asphalt raker-man will have work boots provided, maximum 3 pairs per year. $75 per year for all employees required to wear safety footwear for CSA-approved safety footwear.

Uniforms/clothing: No employee will be required to enter any quarantined building or area, sanitary or hazardous material spill clean up sites, without proper protective clothing or devices as specified. $150 per year for permanent employees; $50 per year for temporary employees as uniform allowance (allowance will not be paid if employer provides employee with uniform). Employees working in wet conditions will be provided with rubber boots, or if due to health restrictions, rubber overshoes as required.

Tool allowance: $560 per year for automotive mechanics, small-motor mechanics, related apprentices ($532 per year for apprentice third and fourth year; $420 per year for apprentice first and second year). $305 per year for millwrights and related apprentices, wastewater treatment ($290 per year for apprentice third and fourth year; $229 per year for apprentice first and second year). $325 per year for welders and related apprentices ($309 per year for apprentice third and fourth year; $244 per year for apprentice first and second year). $681 per year for heavy-duty mechanics and related apprentices ($647 per year for apprentice third and fourth year; $511 per year for apprentice first and second year). $326 per year for machinists and related apprentices ($310 per year for apprentice third and fourth year; $245 per year for apprentice first and second year).
