Wage adjustments:
Effective Jan. 1, 2019: 1%
Effective Jan. 1, 2020: 2%
Effective Jan. 1, 2021: 1.5%
Shift premium: $1.75 per hour (previously $1.50 per hour) for any straight-time hours worked outside 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday; for all straight-time hours worked on Saturdays, Sundays. $2 per hour over regular pay when employee is assigned as crew chief.
Paid holidays: 11 days, plus 2 hours off on Christmas Eve. 1 floating holiday, during each year of agreement, to employees; 2 floating holidays during each year of agreement, to employees who have 15 years of continuous service. Floating holidays may be accrued, maximum 4 days.
Vacations with pay: 120 hours to start, 160 hours after 6 years, 200 hours after 11 years, 240 hours after 16 years, 280 hours after 21 years, 320 hours after 26 years, 360 hours after 31 years. Hours may be accumulated, maximum 400 hours.
Overtime: Double time for all hours worked outside regular hours of work; on days off; on general holidays. Time may be banked, maximum 80 hours. Employer will pay out remaining banked overtime in first pay period after every December. Overtime accumulating during December may be carried over into next year.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 75% of premiums, employee pays 25% of premiums for Alberta Health Care Insurance. Employer pays 50% of premiums, employee pays 50% of premiums for family coverage. Employer pays 100% of premiums for extended health coverage.
Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Sick leave: 1.6 days for every month of employment, maximum 180 working days.
LTD: Employee pays 100% of premiums with 120 calendar-day eligibility.
AD&D: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Pension: Every eligible employee will join Local Authorities Pension Plan.
Bereavement leave: 5 days for death in immediate family (son, daughter, current spouse (including common-law spouse), mother, father, sister, brother, stepparents, stepchildren, stepsiblings, stepgrandchildren, mother in-law, father in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandparent, grandchild, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, grandparent of spouse, legal guardian). 2 additional days if distance travelled is more than 450 kilometres from Grande Prairie. Employee on leave will be granted, upon request, additional time off without pay to create total leave of 5 workdays or 7 workdays, as applicable.
Seniority – recall rights: 12 months for layoffs; 2 days if employee resigns in writing and does not withdraw.
Call-in pay: Minimum 2 hours of pay at overtime rates.
Probationary period: First 6 months served. 1 week’s notice, or payment of wages in lieu of notice, if termination during probationary period is without just cause.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 24 months.
Safety shoes: $400 on Jan. 1 of every odd-numbered year, after 6 months of service, for employees who require safety footwear as condition of employment.
Tool allowance: $75 per month to journeyman mechanics 1, 2 and welders, providing customary tools of trade are carried.

Service recognition: 1-time service-recognition pay will be given to employee on anniversary date: $200 after 5 years of service; $300 after 10 years of service; $400 after 15 years of service; $600 after 20 years of service; $800 after 25 years of service; $1,000 after 30 years of service; $1,200 after 35 years of service. Upon retirement to Local Authorities Pension Plan and after 25 years of service, 1-time payment of $4,000 will be paid to employee; $6,000 after 30 years of service. Prescription safety glasses: $250 twice per year to mechanics, welders, when safety glasses are required by employer.
