Wage adjustments:
Effective Jan. 1, 2019: 1%
Effective Jan. 1, 2020: 1.5%
Effective Jan. 1, 2021: 1.5%
Effective Jan. 1, 2022: 2%
Shift premium: $1.75 per hour (previously $1.50 per hour) for employees scheduled to work outside regular working hours. Double time for each hour worked on days off. 12% above employee’s own master classification rate for employees who are delegated by employer to temporarily perform positions out of bargaining unit. Airport employees: $2.50 per hour for lead-hand; $2 per hour for trainers; $2 per hour for pesticide applicators.
Paid holidays: 11 days.
Vacations with pay: Maximum 15 days, based on when employee first worked, to start, 15 days after 1 year, 4 weeks after 8 years, 5 weeks after 17 years, 6 weeks after 25 years. Time may be carried over into following year, maximum 10 days.
Overtime: Double time for all work after regularly scheduled hours. Time may be banked and used as time off in lieu but maximum amount of leave time allowed per year will be equivalent of 1 biweekly pay period. Balance of overtime bank account as of last day of year will be paid out.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for core extended health care. Employee pays 100% of premiums for Alberta Health Care.
Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Life insurance: Employee pays 100% of premiums.
Pension: Local Authorities Pension Plan.
Bereavement leave: 3 days for death of immediate relative or spousal or common-law spousal immediate relative: son, daughter, spouse, mother, father, sister, brother, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, grandfather, grandmother, legal guardians, grandchildren, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, grandfather-in-law, grandmother-in-law. One-half day off, without pay, to attend funeral of deceased member of CUPE, Local 70. One-half day for employee who is pallbearer at funeral in Lethbridge; 1 day if funeral is out of town. Additional 2 days for travel more than 500 kilometres 1-way.
Seniority – recall rights: 2 years for layoffs.
Probationary period: 6 months (975 hours relating to 37.5-hour workweek; 1,040 hours relating to 40-hour workweek). Time may be extended, maximum 3 months. Absences from duty longer than 10 consecutive days will be added to probationary period.
Tool allowance: Maximum $700 per year for mechanics; maximum $350 per year for welders; maximum $200 per year for utility workers; maximum $100 per year for machine operators, for employees who are required to supply own tools.

Editor’s notes: Emergency calls: Double time for emergency calls, minimum 2 hours for any 1 call-out. Within 2 hours, 30 minutes is provided for reporting to work. Flat-rate for standby: Based on 2 hours at double time for each weekday, Monday to Friday; based on 3 hours at double time for each weekend day (Saturday and Sunday), holiday that falls within weekly assignment. Course attendance pay: Employees who are directed to take courses or clinics will be paid for all hours while attending courses. Overtime rates will not apply nor will wages be paid for time spent traveling to or from courses or clinics.
