Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 1, 2012, to Dec. 31, 2016. Signed on April 20, 2015.

Wage adjustments:

Effective January 2013: 2.5%

Effective January 2014: 2.5%

Effective January 2015: 2.5%

Effective January 2016: 2.5%

Paid holidays: 11 days and 3 floating holidays. 4 hours on New Year’s Eve Day and 4 hours on Christmas Eve Day.

Vacations with pay: 1 day per month of service to a maximum of 2 weeks to start, 3 weeks after 1 year, 4 weeks after 8 years, 5 weeks after 15 years and 6 weeks after 22 years.

Overtime: Time and one-half for first 4 hours of overtime and double time for all hours thereafter. Double time for a regular scheduled day off. Time and one-half for time worked on a holiday when employee is scheduled to work, double time for time worked on a holiday when employee was not scheduled to work.

Meal allowance: Meal provided after 2 hours of overtime.

Sick leave: 12 hours earned per month to a maximum of 1,092 hours.

Bereavement leave: 5 days for employee’s spouse, son, daughter, stepchild or parent. 3 days for employee’s brother, sister, father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, grandparent or grandchild. One-half day to serve as pallbearer.

Seniority – recall rights: 2 years.

Call-in pay: Minimum 4 hours at applicable overtime rate.

Probationary period: 1,092 hours, training not inclusive.

Severance: 30 days’ notice and 4 weeks’ pay.

Uniforms/clothing: Employer provides uniforms as required. Employer is responsible for the dry cleaning of uniforms to a maximum of $35 per month.

Sample rates of pay (current, after 2.5% increase):

Divisional chief: $30.52 per hour

Captain: $30.23

Lieutenant: $29.94

1st class firefighter: $29.07

2nd class firefighter: $27.61

3rd class firefighter: $26.16

4th class firefighter: $24.71

Part-time firefighter: $20.35

Probationary firefighter: $20.35

Editor’s notes: Pagers: Full-time employees will receive up to $1,000 per year to carry a pager. Physical fitness: All employees will be required to undergo the Miramichi Fire Department Fitness Protocol annually. Maternity leave: Up to 15 weeks. Parental leave: Up to 35 weeks. Long-service pay: $100 after 5 years of service, $125 after 6 years, $150 after 7 years, $175 after 8 years, $200 after 9 years, $225 after 10 years, $250 after 11 years, $275 after 12 years, $300 after 13 years, $325 after 14 years, $350 after 15 years, $375 after 16 years, $400 after 17 years, $425 after 18 years, $450 after 19 years, $475 after 20 years and $50 after 21 years. Union labels: Employees can display the CUPE label on their work clothes at no cost to the employer. CUPE labels should not be displayed on employer-owned vehicles.
