Renewal agreement: Effective April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2023. Ratified in December 2020. Signed on April 29, 2021.

Wage adjustments:

Effective April 1, 2020: 1.2%

Effective April 1, 2021: 1.2%

Effective April 1, 2022: 1.2%

Shift premium: $0.30 per hour for all hours worked between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m. $0.35 per hour for all hours worked between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. $0.40 per hour for all hours worked on Sundays. $0.20 per hour for split shifts. Premiums can be combined.

Paid holidays: 12 days.

Vacations with pay: 2 weeks to start, 3 weeks after 1 year, 4 weeks after 4 years, 5 weeks after 10 years, 6 weeks after 15 years, 7 weeks after 20 years for employees hired before 1994. 2 weeks to start, 3 weeks after 1 year, 4 weeks after 8 years, 5 weeks after 8 years, 5 weeks after 15 years, 6 weeks after 27 years for employees hired after 1994. After 25 years, 1 additional week in that year only. Employee with less than 1 year of service who has employment terminated will receive 4% of total wages as pay in lieu of vacation.

Overtime: Time and one-half for authorized time worked in excess of 8 hours in 1 day and 40 hours in 1 week and hours worked on statutory holidays. Double time and one-half for hours worked on statutory holidays in excess of 8 on day. May be taken as compensatory time but must be taken within 4 weeks of time worked.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for extended health care plan.

Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums for plan equal to 2002 O.D.A. rates.

Vision: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of $300 per 24 months per employee’s family member and 1 eye exam every 24 months not covered by OHIP.

Sick leave: 1 day per month, maximum of 90 days. Up to 5 days per year can be used for attending medical appointments or care for ill family members. Can be used to supplement STD or LTD claims.

STD: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of 66 2/3% of weekly earnings for up to 17 weeks with employer covering difference between insurer’s maximum and 66 2/3% level.

LTD: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of 66 2/3% of monthly earnings up to $2,500 per month.

AD&D: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of double employee salary to nearest $1,000.

Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of double employee salary to nearest $1,000.

Pension: Employer contributes 5.5%, employee contributes 5% into Multi-Sector Pension Plan (MSPP).

Bereavement leave: 5 paid days for funeral or memorial of parent, spouse, child. 3 paid days for funeral or memorial of sibling, grandparent, grandchild, parent-in-law, spouse’s grandparent, sibling-in-law. 1 paid day for funeral or memorial for aunt, uncle, niece, nephew. One-half day without pay for attending funeral as pall bearer or mourner.

Seniority – recall rights: 12 months after layoff; for employee who is transferred to temporary position outside bargaining unit.

Call-in pay: Minimum 3 hours’ pay when called to work outside regular scheduled working hours at overtime rate.

Probationary period: 12 months.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 24 months; 12 months for medication errors.

Severance: No less than 8 weeks’ notice of layoff.

Safety shoes: $200 per year for employees who are required to purchase safety boots for performance of duties.

Uniforms/clothing: $75 per year bathing suit allowance for staff who regularly go swimming in municipal pool with people they support.

Mileage: $0.46 per kilometre travelled in personal vehicle in performance of job duties for employer. Employer will provide $100 reimbursement per year upon proven additional costs for business use insurance business rider for staff who use personal vehicles to perform jobs and in previous fiscal year averaged more than 300 kilometres per month.

Support worker 1: $22.45/$24.35 rising 1 step to $22.73/$24.63

Handyperson/transportation officer: $23.35/$25.35 rising 1 step to $23.63/$25.63

Skills instructor/community support worker/assistant print instructor/assistant outlet instructor/support worker 2: $23.59/$25.62 rising 1 step to $23.87/$25.90

Senior transportation officer: $23.72/$25.77 rising 1 step to $24/$26.05

Information technician 1: $24.40/$26.53 rising 1 step to $24.68/$26.81

GLM instructor/vocational instructor/M&A instructor/cafeteria instructor/catering instructor/support worker 3/specialized services SW: $24.87/$27.05 rising 1 step to $25.15/$27.33

Editor’s notes: Medical certificates: All medical certificates requested by employer (includes medical certificates required for those who require class F license) will be paid by employer. Property loss: Employer will compensate employee for loss of personal property including clothing, watches, glasses, contact lenses, resulting from any acts of violence in workplace, if property is destroyed or damaged while employee is performing regular duties. Training: Employer will provide training for: first aid; WHMIS; safe management; abuse training; controlled acts training (where required); fire safety training; defensive driving training (transportation and community support workers every 3 years), QAM training.
