Renewal agreement: Effective May 1, 2023, to April 30, 2026.
Wage adjustments:
Effective April 28, 2024: 4.5%
Effective May 4, 2025: 4.5%
Shift premium: Afternoon Shift: One half hour. Night Shift: One hour. Afternoon Shift Underground: One hour. Night Shift
Underground: One and one half hours.
Paid holidays: 15 days.
Vacations with pay: An annual vacation shall be granted and shall be taken in each and every year. 6% of total earnings in addition to earnings for holiday pay.
Overtime: Commercial / Institutional: Time one-half for the first 2 hours of overtime immediately following the regular shift Monday through Friday. Time and one-half for the first eight hours of overtime. All other overtime shall be paid at double time. Industrial: Time one-half for the first 2 hours of overtime immediately following the regular shift Monday through Friday. All other overtime shall be paid at double time.
Meal allowance: Hot meal on the second break of a shift over 10 hours or meal allowance of $23.00.
Medical benefits: Health and Welfare Fund.
Sick leave: Employees are entitled to illness or injury leave in accordance with the terms of the Employment Standards Act in effect on January 1, 2023.
Pension: Employer contributions to pension/RRSP.
Bereavement leave: 3 days.
Call-in pay: An employee called outside their regular working hours shall be paid at the prevailing rate, from the time of the callout until returning home, but in any case, a minimum of 2 hours including travelling time.
Probationary period: Pre-Apprentice Electrician shall be on probation for up to 1 year.
Uniforms/clothing: Leather and rubber gloves, coveralls and other necessary clothing shall be supplied by the employer.
Tool allowance: Journey and Apprentice Electricians shall provide themselves with the minimum tools. Employer may provide additional tools.
Editor’s notes: Employees required to work at elevations of 80 feet or more above the immediate surrounding area where no fixed permanent platforms or ladders are installed shall be paid at the prevailing rate plus 50% of the straight time rate.
