Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 3, 2024 to Feb. 2, 2026. Signed on Jan. 3, 2024.

Shift premium: $0.25 per hour for stewards, provided that individual has served as steward for minimum 1 year. 105% for sub-foremen. 110% for foremen. 15% for all hours of shift between noon and 11 p.m. 130% for all hours of shift between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. $0.50 per hour for employees working in tunnels and any other type of underground work other than open trenches.

Paid holidays: 11 days.

Vacations with pay: Employer will endeavour to grant vacations at times requested, in vacation seasons or periods, considering business requirements. Employees with school-going children will have preference during summer months. Employee will receive 3 weeks or 6%.

Overtime: Time and one-half for all hours when employee works more than 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week averaged over pay period.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

AD&D: Coverage of $100,000.

Life insurance: Coverage of $100,000.

Pension: Employer will contribute 3% of base wage rate as RSP contribution. Apprentices will receive RSP contribution of 3% of base wage rate.

Bereavement leave: 3 days for death of employee’s spouse, common-law spouse, child, legal dependant, father, mother, father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother, sister, grandparents, grandchildren.

Call-in pay: 2 hours at regular rate, in addition to actual time worked which will be paid at applicable overtime rate, for employees who are called in for Sunday emergency work or called back for overtime work on all other days.

Probationary period: 90 calendar days.

Uniforms/clothing: Employees will wear safety hats and other protective equipment or clothing if required, purchased by employer.

Tool allowance: Employer will furnish all specialized tools, power tools, equipment.

Mileage: $0.25 per kilometre. Employees will have right to refuse to use own cars for jobs outside 45-kilometre radius of Edmonton city centre. $0.50 per kilometre for all kilometres driven between employer’s shop and various jobsites for employees who carry material in own vehicles.

Sample rates of hourly pay (current):

Journeyman electrician: $33.50

Apprentice 4-year period program (electrician)

First-year (50%): $16.75

Second-year (60%): $20.10

Third-year (70%): $23.45

Fourth-year (80%): $26.80

Editor’s notes: Union/management meetings: $10 flat fee to committee member for each meeting attended.
