Renewal agreement: Effective March 31, 2019 to April 1, 2023. Ratified in December 2020. Signed on March 18, 2020.

Wage adjustments:

Effective March 31, 2019: 1.8%

Effective March 29, 2020: 1.7%

Effective April 4, 2021: 1.8%

Effective April 3, 2022: 2%

Shift premium: $1.25 per hour for all full-time employees performing shift work outside standard operational hours (previously $0.90 per hour). $2 per hour for traffic department employees when designated to fill in for supervisor.

Paid holidays: 12 days.

Vacations with pay: 1 day per month of service, maximum 10 days to start, 3 weeks after 1 year (previously 2 weeks after 1 year and 3 weeks after 4 years), 4 weeks after 9 years (previously 10 years), 5 weeks after 16 years, 6 weeks after 26 years.

Overtime: Time and one-half for authorized work performed in excess of employee’s standard work week or on paid holiday. Double time for authorized work performed on Sunday, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day.

Meal allowance: $12 (previously $10) for any employee who is required and authorized to work minimum of 2 hours overtime provided that not more than 1 hour has elapsed between regular stopping time and return to work.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for Ontario Health Insurance Plan.

Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums for dental care plan.

Vision: Employer pays 100% of premiums for plan providing $300 every 24 months and eye exams up to $75 every 24 months.

Paramedical: Employer pays 100% of premiums for extended health plan.

Sick leave: 1.5 days for each calendar month of service. If employee reaches 5 absences in single year, accumulation drops to 1 day for any months in which such absences occur. Up to 3 days each year can be used for doctor or dentist appointments and up to 5 days each year can be used for illness of spouse, child, or parent. Maximum accumulation of 170 days.

LTD: Employer pays 100% of premiums for long-term disability plan providing 70% of monthly income up to $4,000 after waiting period of 120 days.

Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for group life insurance plan with minimum amount of $15,000 for full-time employees.

Pension: Employer and employees share contributions to Ontario Municipal Employee’s Retirement System Plan (OMERS).

Bereavement leave: 5 paid days for death of spouse, child, stepchild, parent, stepparent. 3 paid days for death of grandchild, grandparent, sibling, stepsibling, parent-in-law, sibling-in-law.

Seniority – recall rights: 15 months.

Call-in pay: Minimum 2 hours’ pay at time and one-half for call-in outside of normal hours of work. Effective Jan. 3, 2022: 1 hour of pay at straight-time for reporting and appropriate overtime rates. $25 per day (previously $22 per day) while on-call for traffic signal electricians, compliance inspectors – wastewater, water compliance technicians, and employees in traffic maintenance – signs during winter operations.

Probationary period: 90 worked days or such other extended period of time as may be mutually agreed upon (previously 45 worked days in 4-month period).

Safety shoes: Up to $160 per year for employees who require CSA-approved safety footwear. Up to $130 once during employment for co-op students who require CSA-approved footwear.

Uniforms/clothing: All personnel will be supplied with protective clothing or safety apparel as required. Building inspection and outside traffic employees receive rain suits. Active full-time wastewater compliance inspectors, traffic department employees, construction inspector/operators, development inspectors, development inspector/coordinators, development/inspector/operators, landfill inspectors, collection inspectors, operational services inspectors, surveyors, and surveyors’ assistants receive $450 per year (previously $430) to select items from clothing and footwear list provided by employer for active traffic employees and certain inspectors, along with following at start of their employment: 5 pairs work pants, 3 long-sleeve work shirts, 3 short-sleeve work shirts, 1 winter coat or spring jacket. New municipal law enforcement officers and property standards officers receive 5 pairs work pants, 10 work shirts, 2 work sweaters, 1 work winter coat, and 1 work spring jacket plus 2 pairs of work pants and 2 work shirts annually. New full-time facilities maintenance operators, water compliance technicians, and building inspectors receive 5 work shirts, 1 work winter coat, and 1 work spring jacket plus 2 work shirts annually.
