Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 1, 2018, to Dec. 31, 2020. Ratified on Dec. 13, 2017. Signed on Feb. 2, 2018.

Wage adjustments:

Effective Jan. 1, 2018: COLA 0.5%

Effective Jan. 1, 2019: COLA 1%

Effective Jan. 1, 2020: COLA 1.5%

Shift premium: $2 per hour for lead-hands. $4 per hour for employees appointed by employer to weld.

Paid holidays: 11 days, plus 1 half day before Christmas Day

Vacations with pay: 3 weeks or 6% after 1 year, 4 weeks or 8% after 8 years, 5 weeks or 10% after 15 years, 6 weeks or 12% after 20 years.

Overtime: Time and one-half for all hours in excess of full shift. Double time for overtime on statutory holiday.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 87% of premiums, employee pays 13% of premiums. Employer will provide $250 per year to encourage and promote physical, mental, emotional health of employees by reimbursing cost of wellness-related activities (any health/wellness expenses not covered under health and benefit plans, vision-care expenses, personal protective equipment such as CSA-approved work boots).

Sick leave: 16 hours of sick leave for each month employed, maximum accumulation of 720 hours.

Pension: As condition of employment, all full-time permanent employees will participate in Local Authorities Pension Plan or successor plan.

Bereavement leave: 5 days for death of current spouse, common-law spouse, child. 3 days for death of parent, mother-in-law, father-in-law, grandparent, grandchild, brother, sister, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, foster-child, any relative who has been residing in employee’s household. 1 day for death of stepmother, stepfather, stepbrother, stepsister. 2 additional days when burial occurs outside province.

Seniority – recall rights: 1 year for layoff, 2 years for absence from work for any reason including illness, disability or injury.

Probationary period: 120 days worked.

Tool allowance: $80 per month (previously $63.81 per month) for mechanics who are required by employer to supply own hand tools.
