Renewal agreement: Effective Sept. 1, 2019 to Aug. 31, 2022. Signed on Nov. 12, 2019.
Wage adjustments:
Effective year 1: 1.75%
Effective year 2: 1.75%
Effective year 3: 1.75%
Shift premium: $2 per hour, maximum 25 days, when employee is assigned task with higher rate of pay.
Paid holidays: 9 days, plus 2 personal floater days per year.
Vacations with pay: 1.5 days per month, maximum 15 days, to start, 15 days after 1 year, 20 days after 7 years, 23 days after 12 years, 25 days after 18 years, 30 days after 25 years.
Overtime: Time and one-half for work beyond normal unit of hours per day or week; double time after 4 hours of overtime. Time may be banked, maximum 80 hours at any given time. Banked time not used by Dec. 31 will be paid out on second pay of following year. If employee is terminated, accrued banked time will be paid out.
Sick leave: Employee who is absent due to sickness or quarantine will be paid for continuous absence prior to eighth full calendar day of absence.
Bereavement leave: 5 days for death in family (spouse, common-law partner, child, father, mother, sister, brother, stepparent). 3 days for death in other family (legal guardian, spouse or common-law partner of father or mother, mother-in-law (including common-law), father-in-law (including common-law), daughter-in-law, son-in-law, grandparents, grandchildren, child of spouse or common-law partner or any relative residing in employee’s household). Pay will be limited to number of scheduled working days prescribed plus 1 day to attend funeral, if not within prescribed days. 1 additional tour of duty will be granted to attending funeral service if interment for immediate family member occurs at time other than funeral.
Seniority – recall rights: 12 months after layoffs. Employee’s seniority will not be terminated when remaining away from work because of sickness or disability.
Call-in pay: Minimum 4 hours of pay at time and one-half.
Probationary period: First 6 calendar months of employment. Time lost for personal or health-related reasons will not be counted toward completion of probationary period (period will be extended by number of working days employee was absent from work).
Discipline: Sunset clause is 18 months for suspensions or disciplinary actions, including letters of reprimand or any adverse reports.
Severance: 3 weeks’ pay for each year of service, prorated to nearest month, maximum 60 weeks’ salary. 1 additional week severance pay per year of service, maximum 12 additional weeks of severance pay, for employees who volunteer to be laid off or are approached by employer to volunteer to be laid off.
Uniforms/clothing: Maximum of $1,500 per full-time anchor. $300 per year (previously $200 per year) for employees who regularly perform anchor duties; $200 per year (previously $100 per year) for employees who regularly perform photojournalist duties for anchor photojournalists.
