Renewal agreement: Effective Dec. 1, 2020 to Nov. 30, 2023. Signed on May 26, 2022.

Shift premium: $5 for duration of course or training period for employee who has special knowledge or training acquired other than in course of employment to train or instruct other employees. $1.75 per hour (previously $1.50 per hour) for employees who possess Red Seal certification recognized by government of Newfoundland and Labrador in either electrical or heavy-duty mechanic trades and who require that certification as condition of employment.

Paid holidays: 12 days, including National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Vacations with pay: 1 1/4 days per month to start, 1 2/3 days per month after 7 years, 2 1/12 days per month after 17 years, 2 1/2 days per month after 28 years. Employee can take unused portion of vacation leave, maximum 12 days, to carry over into following vacation year. In addition, over any 5-year period, employee may bank additional 12 days of leave, maximum 24 days at any 1 time.

Meal allowance: $14 for employee who has not received at least 12 hours advance notice of overtime requirement and works 3 or more consecutive hours of overtime immediately following scheduled working hours (additional $14 will be provided when continuous overtime extends beyond 7 hours).

Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Sick leave: 1.25 days per month.

LTD: Employer pays 85% of premiums, employee pays 15% of premiums.

Life insurance: Employee pays 100% of premiums.

Pension: DC plan.

Bereavement leave: 5 days for death in immediate family (father, mother, stepfather, stepmother, foster-parent, brother, sister, spouse, common-law spouse resident with employee, child, child of common-law spouse, stepchild, ward of employee, grandchild, father-in-law, mother-in-law, relative residing in employee’s house). 3 additional days may be given for travel related to death. 1 day for death of grandparent, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law or his spouse or sister-in-law or her spouse.

Seniority – recall rights: 12 months after layoffs.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 24 months for document or written statement related to disciplinary action.

Severance: 2 weeks’ pay for first year of employment and 1 week’s pay for each additional year of employment on first layoff; 1 week’s pay for each year of employment, less any severance pay previously receive, for second or subsequent layoff.

Safety shoes: $225 per year for safety work boots.

Tool allowance: $600 1-time option at beginning of employment or employer will provide, maintain and replace all tools that are required by employees.

Mileage: $0.55 per kilometre, maximum 50 kilometres, when employee reports for overtime work, which is not contiguous to employee’s regularly scheduled shift on that day.

Sample rates of hourly pay (current,):

Team lead: $40.32

Equipment operator: $30.12

Airport technician: $37.48

Clerk/receptionist: $34.41

Temporary clerk/receptionist: $24.73

$500 1-time signing bonus, less applicable deductions, on signing of agreement for clerk/receptionist employees.

Editor’s notes: Exercise time: Operating conditions permitting, employer will schedule airport technicians for exercise 2 hours per week at on-site physical fitness apparatus or facilities provided by employer. Shift work: $2,500 per year for employees who work shift work.
