Wage adjustments:

Shift premium: $0.60 per hour (previously $0.50 per hour) for any shift that begins or ends between 7 p.m. in 1 day and 7 a.m. on following day. $2 per hour for employee who works on early morning shift, such as seasonal for snow removal. $0.75 per hour for dirty work (sewer work where employee comes in direct contact with raw sewage). $50 per employee for cemetery employees who exhume or re-inter human remains or cremated remains. $1 per hour (previously $0.75 per hour) for lead-hands.
Paid holidays: 12 days.
Vacations with pay: 1.25 days per month to start, 15 days after 10 months, 16 days after 6 years, 17 days after 7 years, 18 days after 8 years, 19 days after 9 years, 20 days after 10 years, 21 days after 11 years, 22 days after 12 years, 23 days after 13 years, 24 days after 14 years, 25 days after 15 years, 26 days after 20 years, 27 days after 21 years, 28 days after 22 years, 29 days after 23 years, 30 days after 24 years. Employees may carry over maximum 1 week of vacation once 3 weeks of vacation have been scheduled.
Overtime: Time and one-half for work after 8 hours per day for outside employees; 7 hours per day for inside employees. Double time after 1 hour of overtime. May be taken as time off in lieu, maximum 120 hours of time.
Meal allowance: $15, if meal break is not taken, for employee who works following end of normal work day, who will be entitled to paid 30-minute meal break after 2 hours of overtime work (provided work is longer than 2 hours) plus another meal break after every 4 additional consecutive hours completed.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Coverage of 100% for basic dental services; 70% for prosthetics, crowns, bridges; 50%, maximum lifetime limit $3,000, for orthodontics.
Vision: Coverage of $700 every 2 years; $110 for routine eye examinations once every 2 years.
Paramedical: Maximum $2,000 per person per year for: chiropractor, naturopath, physiotherapist, massage practitioner, podiatrist, speech language pathologist, clinical psychologist, acupuncturist.
Sick leave: 1.5 days for every month of service, cumulative to maximum 180 days. Employees who have reached maximum accumulation will be entitled to 1-time payout equivalent to 5 days’ pay.
LTD: Employee pays 100% of premiums.
AD&D: Employer pays 50% of premiums, employee pays 50% of premiums.
Life insurance: Employer pays 50% of premiums, employee pays 50% of premiums.
Bereavement leave: 3 days for death of parent, spouse, brother, sister, son, daughter, grandparent, grandchild, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, common-law spouse, children and similar step-relationships, current foster-children, foster-parent relationships; leave will include travel-time allowance. Leave will be extended, maximum 10 days with pay, for death of mother, father, spouse, son, daughter. 1 half-day to attend funeral as pallbearer or mourner.
Seniority – recall rights: 24 consecutive months after layoff. 6 months for employee transferred outside bargaining unit
Call-in pay: Paid at double time for minimum 2 hours.
Probationary period: 60 days worked or 120 days worked for accounting clerk 1 (inside), senior accounting technician (inside), working road maintenance/drainage foreman (outside), working utilities foreman (outside), mechanic (outside), equipment operator 2 (outside), utility operator 2 (outside), planning technician (inside), working parks foreman (outside). Period may be extended for further 40 days worked.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 24 months for any formal written record of previous discipline.
Safety shoes: $150 per year for boots that are CSA-approved.

Editor’s notes: On-call employees: 2 hours’ straight-time pay per day for employee on call on regularly scheduled work day; 4 hours’ straight-time pay per day for being on call on regularly scheduled rest days and on general holidays. Retirement-planning seminar: Employer will pay for one-half of time lost, maximum 1 normal workday, for employee who has not previously attended seminar to attend CUPE-provided retirement-planning seminar.
