Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 1, 2012, to Dec. 31, 2019. Signed on May 9, 2016.
Wage adjustments:
Effective Jan. 1, 2016: 2.5%
Effective Jan. 1, 2017: 2.5%
Effective Jan. 1, 2018: 2.5%
Effective Jan. 1, 2019: 2.5%
Paid holidays: 12 days.
Vacations with pay: 1/12 of 2 weeks for each month to start, 21 days after 1 year, 28 days after 10 years, 35 days after 20 years, 42 days after 25 years.
Overtime: Time and one-half for first 2 hours, double time thereafter. Time and one-half for court time, minimum 2 hours. Double time and one-half for holiday overtime.
Medical benefits: B.C. Medical Services Plan, 100% premium covered by employer. Extended health plan: 75% premium covered by employer, $100 annual deductible. $500 per year for any listed professional practitioners costs.
Dental: 80% of premium covered by employer. 100% coverage for basic services, 50% for prosthetic appliance, crown and bridge procedures, 50% for orthodontia, maximum $5,000.
Vision: 80% reimbursement covered by employer, $450 maximum every 2 years. $75 every 2 years for eye exam.
Paramedical: Orthotics: $300 per year.
Sick leave: 1 day per month to start, 12 days after 1 year, 2 months after 5 years, 3 months after 20 years. Maximum 200 days in sick leave bank.
AD&D: Employer pays 55% of premium.
Life insurance: Employer pays 55% of premium, 3 times annual salary.
Seniority – recall rights: 12 months.
Probationary period: 12 months.
Uniforms/clothing: Cleaning allowance of $10 per month.

Editor’s notes: Crowd control: Firefighters will not be assigned duties relating to crowd or riot control unless the mayor has ordered the reading of the riot act. Long service: After 10 years, first class firefighters 3% increase in salary. After 15 years, an additional 3% increase, calculated at 106% of rate. Hearing aids: $2,000 every 5 years. Employee assistance program: Employer covers 60%, employee covers 40%. Retirement age: Maximum age of worker is 60. Retirement gratuity: When employer reaches 50 and retires, gratuity of 1 month pay, 50% of accrued sick leave.
