Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 1, 2019 to Dec. 31, 2021. Ratified on July 15, 2019. Signed on July 23, 2019.

Wage adjustments:

Effective Jan. 1, 2019: 0%

Effective Jan. 1, 2020: 1%

Effective Jan. 1, 2021: 1.5%

Shift premium: Time and one-half for all hours worked on first shift of changed schedule when change is made to regular employee’s schedule with less than 5 calendar days’ notice. $2.50 per hour (previously $2.25 per hour) for each hour worked between 4 p.m. and midnight. $3 per hour (previously $2.75 per hour) for each hour worked between midnight and 8 a.m. $2 per hour (previously $1.75 per hour) for each hour worked between 4 p.m. on Friday and 8 a.m. on Monday.

Paid holidays: 11 days.

Vacations with pay: 10 days prorated to date of hire to start, 10 days after 2 years, 15 days after 3 years, 20 days after 8 years, 25 days after 15 years, 30 days after 20 years.

Overtime: Time and one-half for all hours worked after 8 hours per day of 80 hours biweekly.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 70% of premiums, employee pays 30% of $1,500 annual premium.

Sick leave: 18 pro-rated days per year (at rate of 1.5 days for every month), maximum accumulation of 90 days of entitlement.

LTD: Employer pays 70% of premiums, employee pays 30% of premiums.

Pension: Employer contributes 3%, employee contributes 3% to Nursing Homes and Related Industries Pension Plan.

Bereavement leave: 5 days for death of spouse, common-law partner, same-sex partner, adult interdependent partner, fiancé(e), child (and partner, spouse), stepchild (and partner, spouse), current or former foster-child, grandchild, parent, legal guardian, stepparent, parent-in-law, former foster-parent, grandparent, grandparent-in-law, sibling (and partner, spouse), stepsibling (and partner, spouse), aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, person employee isn’t related to but considers to be close like relative. 2 days for travel time when funeral takes place outside of Alberta (but within Canada); 4 days when funeral takes place outside of Canada.

Seniority – recall rights: 1 year for layoffs.

Call-in pay: Minimum of 2 hours’ pay at overtime rates.

Probationary period: 480 hours.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 18 months for past warning notices or notices of discipline.

Editor’s notes: Staff meetings/courses/training: Employees who are required by employer to attend staff meetings, courses, other training will receive basic hourly rate of pay. Registration fees, other course/training expenses will be paid by employer. Employees will be entitled to use vehicle allowance if course is not at normal place of employment. Employees will be reimbursed for accommodation and receive per diem for meals, other expenses
