Renewal agreement: Effective March 1, 2018, to Feb. 29, 2020. Ratified on March 29, 2018. Signed on May 11, 2018.

Shift premium: $1 per hour for work between 1 p.m. and 9 p.m. $2.50 per hour for work between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. $2 per hour for foreman in charge at each plant location. $1 per hour for junior lead-hand at each plant location. $1 per hour for employee safety representative assigned within bargaining unit.

Paid holidays: 11 days.

Vacations with pay: 2 weeks or 4% after 1 year, 3 weeks or 6% after 5 years, 4 weeks or 8% after 12 years, 5 weeks or 10% after 21 years.

Overtime: Time and one-half for first 8 hours of Saturday, double time thereafter. Time and one-half for first 4 hours, after 8 hours Monday through Friday, double time thereafter. Double time for all work on Sunday. May be banked, maximum 40 straight-time hours

Meal allowance: $10 if employee works 12 hours per shift, provided overtime is unscheduled (if employee has not been notified in person at least 2 hours prior to quitting time on previous day or overtime requirements have not been identified on shift-scheduling tape).

Medical benefits: Employer will pay $1.50 for each hour worked (previously $1.45 per hour) by each employee into Operating Engineers Local 955 Health and Wellness Trust Fund. Employer pays 50% of cost of Alberta Health Care premiums, employee pays 50%.

Pension: Employer will pay $4.50 for each hour worked (previously $4.25 per hour) by each employee into Operating Engineers Local 955 Pension Trust Fund.

Bereavement leave: 3 days for death in immediate family (spouse, common-law spouse, parents, children, brothers, sisters, fiancé, grandparents, grandchildren, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law). Common-law spouse will be deemed to mean man or woman who resided with employee and who was held out publicly as spouse for at least 1 year before death.

Seniority – recall rights: 12 months.

Call-in pay: Minimum of 3 hours’ pay at applicable overtime rates.

Safety shoes: $0.15 per hour for approved winter, summer safety footwear.

Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide 1 pair of winter coveralls which will be replaced on as-needed basis. Employer will provide coveralls to all employees.

Tool allowance: Employer will ensure replacement of tools — which employer requires employees to bring on job — when lost by fire or theft by forcible entry.

Mileage: $0.50 per kilometre if employee uses own vehicle at request and direction of employer (employees will not be required to use own vehicle to convey passengers, material, fuel, parts).

Sample rates of hourly pay (current, after 1.2 increase):

Classifications

Group 1 (batcher/loader operator): $32.75 rising 1 step to $33.15

Group 2 (loader operator): $29.05 rising 1 step to $29.45

Group 3 (general): $23.40 rising 1 step to $23.70

Labourer/equipment operator

Group 4 (plant/yard labourer): $20.75 rising 1 step to $21

Editor’s notes: Training: Employer will pay $0.05 per hour for each hour worked by each employee into Operating Engineers Local 955 Training Trust Fund.
