Renewal agreement: Effective Oct. 1, 2018 to Sept. 30, 2021. Ratified on April 8, 2019. Signed on April 12, 2019.
Shift premium: 6 hours of pay for welders, who served apprenticeship with employer, after taking initial B-pressure test (after successfully completing qualification test, any B-pressure welder who is new to employer will be paid for test time, maximum 4 hours). $1.75 per hour for work on afternoon shift. Employee will work 7 hours but receive pay for 8 hours plus $1.50 per hour for work on midnight shift.
Paid holidays: 11 days. Day before Christmas Day and day before New Year’s Day, will be day off without pay but it may be worked by mutual consent.
Vacations with pay: 10 days or 4% to start, 15 days or 6% after 13 months, 15 days or 8% after 61 months, 20 days or 10% after 121 months, 25 days or 10% after 181 months. It will be mandatory for all employees to take vacation after 1 year of employment.
Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week; double time after 2 hours of overtime. Time and one-half for all work on Saturday.
Meal allowance: Hot meal will be provided after 2 hours of overtime and every 4 hours thereafter. $20 may be paid in lieu of hot meal.
Medical benefits: Boilermakers’ National Benefit Plans (Canada) - ISO (Industrial Sector Operations) Division (after 90 days of employment). Employer pays 100% of premiums for Alberta Health Care coverage.
Pension: After 90 days of service, employer will contribute to RRSP designated by employee.
Bereavement leave: 3 days for death in immediate family (mother, father, sister, brother, daughter, son, wife, husband, common-law spouse, mother-in-law, father-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, stepparents).
Seniority – recall rights: 1 month for each year of employment; 1 year for absence due to sickness that is covered under medical certificate or accident recognized by Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB).
Call-in pay: Minimum 2 hours’ paid at double time.
Probationary period: 90 days.
Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide coveralls on exchange basis, or exchange service for coveralls on weekly basis at no cost to employees. Employer will provide $250 for winter apparel when employee work outsides (plateland, outside cutting, shipping, outside head press) for 2 consecutive weeks between Oct. 15 and March 15. Winter coats, gloves will be provided to employees who work outside.
