Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 1, 2019 to Dec. 31, 2021. Signed on April 4, 2019.
Shift premium: $1 per hour for employees hired prior to Jan. 1, 2009; $5 per hour for employees hired after Jan. 1, 2009, for lead-hands. $0.20 per hour for employees whose regularly assigned shifts begin between noon and 7:59 p.m. $0.30 per hour for employees whose regularly assigned shifts begin between 8 p.m. and 3:59 a.m.
Paid holidays: 9 days, plus employee’s birthday, 1 floater day.
Vacations with pay: 1 hour for every 25 hours worked, maximum 80 hours, or 4% after 1 year, 1 hour for every 16.67 hours worked, maximum 120 hours, or 6% after 5 years, 1 hour for every 12.5 hours worked, maximum 160 hours, or 8% after 5 years, 1 hour for every 10 hours worked, maximum 200 hours, or 10% after 5 years, 1 hour for every 8 hours worked, maximum 240 hours, or 12% after 5 years.
Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week or for work on Saturday or Sunday. May be banked, no maximum cap on banked hours; may be taken as lieu time or paid out at later date (by last pay of year). Maximum 40 overtime hours may be taken in days.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for 80-20 copay plan.
Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums for 80-20 copay plan which includes checkups, cleaning, fillings, extractions, X-rays, root canals. Maximum $1,200 per family member per year for periodontal, endodontic services
Vision: Employer pays 100% of premiums. $225 (previously $200) per family member every 2 years.
Weekly indemnity: Employer pays 100% of premiums for 1/4/26 plan.
AD&D: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of $30,000.
Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of $30,000.
Pension: All employees will be required to join and contribute to pension plan.
Bereavement leave: 3 days for death of spouse, common-law partner, child, parent, brother, sister, stepparent, stepchild, grandchild, grandparent after 3 months of service.
Seniority – recall rights: 6 months for employees promoted to supervisory position or position not subject to agreement; 24 consecutive months for layoffs.
Call-in pay: Minimum 4 hours’ pay at time and one-half.
Probationary period: After employee has exceeded 8 hours in any 1 work week, period will be 120 days within 35 consecutive weeks. Probationary employees will be paid probationary rate for first 30 consecutive days worked after which, employee will be paid full rate for remainder of 120-day probationary period.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 2 years.
Uniforms/clothing: $225 (previously $200 per year) for protective clothing (payable on separate cheque first week of February in each year). Employer will provide rainwear and any other safety or protective wear required.
Sample rates of hourly pay (current):
Hired prior to 2009 or after achieving 10 years seniority
Warehousemen: $23.25 plus $4,300 lump-sum payment
Sample rates of hourly pay (current, after 6.1% increase):
Hired after 2008 with less than 5 years of seniority
Warehousemen: $ 20.24 rising 2 steps to $21.48
Probationary: $15.10 rising 2 steps to $16.02
Sample rates of hourly pay (current, after 5.8% increase):
Hired after 2008 and after achieving 5 years of seniority
Warehousemen: $ 21.24 rising 2 steps to $22.48
Editor’s notes: Bonding: Should employer require any employee to give bond, premium will be paid by employer. Retirement allowance: $1,000 at time of retirement for employees retiring after 10 years of service; $2,000 for employees 63 to 65 and retiring after 15 years of service.
