Renewal agreement: Effective July 14, 2018 to July 13, 2022. Signed on July 14, 2018.
Shift premium: $1 per hour for chairperson of plant committee, maximum 4 hours per day, to confer with local or national union on matters arising from agreement, paid for by employer. $0.85 for all hours worked between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m. $1.10 for all hours worked between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m.
Paid holidays: 12 days (previously 11 days plus one-half day on Christmas Eve). Total number of paid holidays provided will not exceed 12 days per year.
Vacations with pay: 2 weeks or 4% after 1 year, 3 weeks or 6% after 5 years, 4 weeks or 8% after 10 years, 5 weeks or 10% after 20 years. It is mandatory for employee to take first 2 weeks of vacation within 12-month vacation period (any additional vacation will be taken within same vacation year or employee may decide to forego additional vacation and receive vacation pay only).
Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after 8 hours per day and for all work on Saturday or Sunday, except where Saturday or Sunday is part of regular workweek for employee. Double time for all work after 12 hours per day.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Employer will also provide health-care spending account: $1,200 per year for single coverage; $1,700 per year for couple coverage (2 people); $2,650 per year rising to $2,700 per year for family coverage.
Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of examinations every 9 months. Maximum $1,300 per year (previously $1,150 per year) for all other expenses. Maximum $1,500 lifetime for orthodontic treatment.
Weekly indemnity: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
STD: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
LTD: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Pension: Employer will $375 contribution into RRSP plan each year, employee must match contribution each year. Contributions for each year must be locked in for minimum of 5 years.
Bereavement leave: 4 days for death in immediate family (father, mother, mother-in-law, father-in-law, sister, brother, spouse (including common-law spouse, same-sex spouse), children of employee, grandparent, grandchild, stepchild, stepparent, stepbrother, stepsister, brother-in-law, sister-in-law). 1 of 4 bereavement days may be taken at time of burial for winter death and spring burial of immediate family member.
Seniority – recall rights: 18 months for layoff due to lack of work and not recalled for work.
Call-in pay: Minimum 4 hours’ pay based on regular hourly rate.
Probationary period: 110 days actually worked within 12-month period.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months.
Severance: 1 week’s pay per year of service for employees with 10 years of seniority; 1.5 weeks’ pay per year of service for employees with 20 years of seniority; 2 weeks’ pay per year of service for employees with more than 20 years of seniority. Group benefits for employees affected by partial or total plant closure will be continued for 3 months.
Safety shoes: $135 in first year of agreement (previously $130 per year); $140 in each year of agreement thereafter for safety shoes where such shoes are required by employer. If shoes become non-functional for work-related reasons, employer will provide second pair per year.
Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide smocks on need-to basis to operators who are not required to wear protective clothing. Employer will provide uniforms (shirts, pants) to employees working in maintenance and work stations with hazardous chemicals. Employees will be provided with 8 shirts, 8 pants. Employer will arrange for weekly cleaning of uniforms. Employer will provide employees working in maintenance department with 1 additional uniform.

Editor’s notes: Initiation fee: $20, payable upon completion of probationary period, by all employees as condition of employment. Paid education leave: Employer will pay $0.03 per hour per employee for all compensated hours to provide paid education leave. Tuition fees, book refund: Employer will reimburse employees for tuition for courses that have been successfully completed and which were previously approved. Employer will pay 100% of courses, textbooks for any course to which employer sends employee, including probationary employees. Hearing test: Employer will pay for hearing test for employees working in areas where noise level is 85 decibels or greater. Hearing aids: $800 every 5 years
