Renewal agreement: Effective Sept. 9, 2019 to Aug. 31, 2022. Signed on Oct. 23, 2019.
Shift premium: $5.40 per hour rising 2 steps to $5.62 per hour for lead drivers. additional $0.22 per kilometre for all kilometres that are driven greater than 100 kilometres per HTS route. $1 per hour for TIC premium. $0.52 per hour for lead-hands. $3 per hour for any shift that begins after 5:59 p.m. and before 2:59 a.m.
Paid holidays: 10 days.
Vacations with pay: 2 weeks or 4% after 1 year, 3 weeks or 6% after 3 years, 4 weeks or 8% after 8 years. 5 weeks or 10% for grandfathered employees eligible for 5 weeks of vacation.
Overtime: Time and one-half for work after 8 hours per day. Time may be banked, maximum 40 straight-time hours per year. All banked overtime earned as of Dec. 31 each year must be taken between April 1 and Aug. 14 inclusive of following year. Any accumulated banked overtime from prior year not taken by Aug. 14 will be paid out to employee.
Sick leave: 2 days per year for mechanics with no carryover year to year.
Pension: Employer will match 50% of employee contribution (maximum 3%) for employees who contribute minimum 6% to RRSP program for maintenance only.
Bereavement leave: 3 days for each occasion, to be taken within 7 days of death, for death in immediate family (spouse, parents, sisters, brothers, children, grandparents, grandchildren). 2 additional days if employee needs to travel 300 kilometres or more.
Seniority – recall rights: 12 months when employee is on layoff. 90 calendar days when employee receives leave of absence to take position within company or union which is beyond sphere of bargaining unit (should employees return or be returned to bargaining unit for any reason, employees must remain unit for minimum 180 calendar days before exercising privilege again).
Call-in pay: Minimum of 3 hours of pay for maintenance shop employees.
Probationary period: First 60 work days of employment.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 18 months for disciplinary letters/reprimands taken against employee. 2 years of collision-free driving for documents relating to preventable collisions.
Safety shoes: $165 per year, to be paid in August of each year.
Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide all licensed mechanics and apprentice mechanics, on exchange and as-required basis, with 1 winter coat. Maintenance employees will be provided with clean hi- vis coveralls on basis of 5 per week for licensed mechanics and apprentice mechanics and 3 per week for service person and appropriate rain wear for wash-bay employees. For summer months, Cardinal Coach Lines will supply mechanics work pants, button-up shirts (light colour not dark blue). Employer will supply gloves, dust masks, non-prescribed safety glasses, hard hats where required and hearing protection (muffs or ear buds). Employer will supply, as required, reflective winter coats, pants, coveralls for all maintenance employees.
Tool allowance: Employer will provide for licensed mechanics, apprentice mechanics tool allowance of $650 per year, to be paid in August of each year. Employer will provide insurance coverage for mechanics tools, maximum $20,000 per mechanic.
Mileage: $0.50 per kilometre if employee uses own motor vehicle to travel on company business in performance of duties.

Editor’s notes: Starting buses in winter months: $40 per month during winter month for employer to supply cords for school bus plug-in during winter months (full months of November, December, January , February, March or when temperature drops below -5 Celsius). Medical examinations: Employer will pay for all medical exams required to maintain class driver’s license, maximum $120 per license renewal. Washing buses: Drivers will be paid for 1.5 hours, at $15 per hour, for each bus washed at employer’s established schedule. Overnight charters: Drivers operating overnight charters will be reimbursed $12 for breakfast; $15 for lunch; $20 for supper. Overnight trips: Employer will pay for all lodging expenses, airplane tickets, rental vehicles, and per diem of $47 for meals, when mechanic travels overnight from base of employment to work at another location.
