Renewal agreement: Effective Sept. 1, 2019 to Aug. 31, 2022. Signed on Feb. 12, 2020.

Shift premium: $1 per hour for each hour worked as lead-hand.

Paid holidays: 10 days.

Vacations with pay: 2 weeks or 4% to start, 3 weeks or 6% after 5-years, 4 weeks or 8% after 10-years.

Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week.

Pension: Group RRSP.

Bereavement leave: 5 days (days 4 and 5 will be unpaid) for death in immediate family (father, mother, wife, husband, son, daughter, sister, brother, grandparents, grandchildren, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, stepparents, mother-in-law, father-in-law).

Seniority – recall rights: 12 consecutive working months after layoffs.

Probationary period: First 90 calendar days of employment.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 24 months for letters of reprimand, adverse reports, records of suspension, any disciplinary actions.

Safety shoes: $135 per year for CSA-approved (green shield) safety shoes.

Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide 11 uniforms every 10 days. Employer will provide winter jackets every 2 years. Employer will provide rain jackets.

Tool allowance: $250 per year.

Mileage: $0.50 per kilometre if employee is asked by employer to use own vehicle.

Sample rates of hourly pay (current):

Journeyman: $35.03

Apprentices/one license mechanics:

First-year apprentice: 50% of journeyman’s wage

Second-year apprentice: 60% of journeyman’s wage

Third-year apprentice: 70% of journeyman’s wage

Fourth-year apprentice: 80% of journeyman’s wage

Fifth-year apprentice: 90% of journeyman’s wage

One licence (S or T): 95% of journeyman’s wage

Both truck and transport and automotive licences: 100% of journeyman’s wage

(All employees must successfully complete ASE brake requirement within first year of collective agreement and will receive $0.10 increase to hourly rate).

Editor’s notes: Apprenticeship training: Employer will pay for school tuition only upon successful completion of apprenticeship course (yearly). Prescription safety glasses: Employees who are required to wear safety glasses are eligible to be reimbursed $150 for 1 pair of safety glasses (must be CSA-approved, industrial glasses with side shields) that are required because of new prescription, change in prescription or damage to lenses. School bus master certification: $0.10 per hour for each of bonus tests passed (S1 through to S7). $0.10 per hour additional bonus for master certification.
