Renewal agreement: Effective July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2022. Signed on June 27, 2019.

Wage adjustments:

Effective July 1, 2019: 1.65%

Effective July 1, 2020: 2%

Effective July 1, 2021: 2%

Shift premium: 2.25% per hour for entire shift worked when major portion of employee’s shift, other than bus drivers, occurs after 3 p.m.

Paid holidays: 12 days.

Vacations with pay: 1 day per month, maximum 10 days, to start, 10 days or 4% after 1 year, 15 days or 6% after 2 years, 20 days or 8% after 6 years, 25 days or 10% after 13 years, 30 days or 12% after 24 years, 35 days or 14% after 29 years (based on 5-day workweek). All employees will receive additional 2 days per year in addition to those outlined (1 day will be added to vacation bank on Jan. 1 and second day will be added on July 1).

Overtime: Time and one-half for work after 7 or 8 hours per day; double time after 2 hours of overtime. Double time for work on first day of rest (normally Saturday) and second day of rest (normally Sunday). Time and one-half for work after 40 hours per week.

Meal allowance: Employee will be given meal allowance, in accordance with current employee policy, for employee required to work more than 2 hours overtime in any day, unless employer has given at least 24 hours notice of need to work overtime.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for Medical Services Plan of B.C.

Dental: Employer pays 70% of premiums, employee pays 30% of premiums.

Sick leave: 1.5 days per month of service, maximum 225 days accrual.

Life insurance: Employer pays 70% of premiums, employee pays 30% of premiums.

Pension: All employees who have completed probationary period will be required to participate in BC Municipal Pension Plan.

Bereavement leave: 4 days for death in family (parent, parent-in-law, grandparent, grandparent-in-law, grandchild, spouse, ward, sibling, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, aunt and uncle, common-law spouse). In special circumstances, such as unusual length of travel time, employer may give up to 2 additional days. 1 day will be given to attend funeral as pallbearer or mourner at funeral of relative other than immediate family or for close friend.

Seniority – recall rights: 18 months after layoff; if employee accepts position excluded from bargaining unit.

Call-in pay: Minimum 2 hours’ pay at applicable overtime rate.

Probationary period: 45 working days.

Severance: 5% of annual salary for each year of service, maximum 2 years’ pay.

Safety shoes: Employees mandated by workers’ compensation board to wear safety boots will have option to receive; 1 pair of safety footwear and have them replaced as required, maximum 1 pair per year (maximum cost $200) or be paid $105 per year.

Uniforms/clothing: $105 per year. Employer will provide bus drivers with new uniform every 2 years: 4 pair of pants; 4 shirts; 1 jacket (1 winter jacket will be provided as required but not more than every 3 years).
